BaaadThingsMan Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 The Bills also led the league in passing TDs over 20 yards as well IIRC. So pound em with the run and beat em with the pass, that's a recipe for success IMO. Better D and a couple timely plays and this season is a different story Also, QB rushing yards DO count so yay #1
vincec Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) not really accurate comparison. They were 2nd in rushing yards in 2013 because they had so many attempts. The Bills lead the league in YPC. That's the more important stat. They weren't close in YPC 2 years ago. How far will a good running game take you? I don't know but 6 out of the top 10 rushing teams this season are going to the playoffs. So, slightly better than crap shoot that if you're a good running team you make the playoffs? If you want to look at something with a real statistical correlation then notice that 11 out of top 12 teams with the fewest PPG allowed made the playoffs. And the other one was the Jets who finished 10-6 and barely missed out. Defense. Edited January 9, 2016 by vincec

Real statistical correlation because it fits your view this year? playoff teams/top 12 fewest ppg allowed 2014 6/12 2013 9/12 2012 7/12 That's not to say it doesn't matter, it certainly does. But it isn't the only factor. playoff teams/rushing ypg leaders 2015 6/12 2014 6/12 2013 7/12 2012 7/12 Bottom line was we had 4th in fewest total points allowed last year so under your "statistical correlation" we should have made the playoffs with ease. Marty McFly Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It's been an amazing turn around. If Tyrod can continue to grow, we are going to be a force to reckon with in the years to come! Agree 100% Taylor has a lot of upside and we have been so QB traumatized since the Flutie curse that I dont blame the fans who look at TTs short comings while ignoring his positives and potential. If TT improves which (considering his work ethic and the fact he knows hes gonna be the starter and has to be the new team leader) he will , and if we can get better trainers to quarantine the injury bug, we are gonna be dangerous team next season!

So, to be clear, by your own statistics if you have the best running team in the entire NFL you have a slightly better than average chance to make the playoffs. And not as good a chance as if you have one of the top 12 defenses in PPG allowed in the NFL.
