BringBackFergy Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 "Aging offensive line" = Eric Wood (Sorry to say). Funny, no mention of LB's, switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense and dumb ass penalties in his brief analysis.
Augie Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 The only part of his critique offered in the piece that I question is the "aging and unathletic" line. The OL actually moves pretty well and most of the guys are relatively young with the notable exception of Incognitio. The right side of the line is in need of upgrades obviously. Agreed, I edited to add that on the OLine. This is just roster talk. I'd love to hear what he says about coaching and front office. Especially coaching!
BuffaloBillsForever Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 @viccarucci Bill Polian willing to lend a hand to help #Bills end 16-year playoff drought: http://bit.ly/1OjezEA Tell Polian to get lost.
FireChan Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 The same Eric Wood that was just a pro bowl alternate? Funny how much his game improved (and the rest of the line's) when the defenses have to play contain.
Big Turk Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 He left us for Carolina, then went to Indy to work for a madman. Don't know if we want his "help??" Stop writing revisionist history. He never left he was fired by Wilson, mainly for saying Wilson's daughter shouldn't be a scout for the team.
YoloinOhio Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) The only two guys on the OL who are "aging" are wood and incognito. They are pretty good IMO and not what needs fixed (RG, RT - both really young). Struck me as odd. Btw Polian and Carucci are close friends so that's how he got the interview, I respect Polian's work but he's not coming back to consult in any real "role" - he is done working for any team. That's not my opinion, that is something I know. Edited December 24, 2015 by YoloinOhio
BUFFALOTONE Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 He left us for Carolina, then went to Indy to work for a madman. Don't know if we want his "help??" You're very wrong... He didn't leave. He was canned by Ralph.
reddogblitz Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (grain of salt info) Allegedly, he was fired for calling Ralph's daughter a c**t. I would have fired him too.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Agreed, I edited to add that on the OLine. This is just roster talk. I'd love to hear what he says about coaching and front office. Especially coaching! He pretty much did later in the article. And what of the many problems with players struggling to learn or flat-out rejecting Ryan’s defensive scheme? His answer will no doubt be music to the ears of Mario Williams, Jerry Hughes, Marcell Dareus, Preston Brown, and other players who have openly questioned the defense’s fit for those who have to play it. “You need veterans to make that defense work,” Polian said. “First of all, the players thrived in another system – in a simple, straight forward, very easy to understand, very easy to communicate system where there was constant repetition of the same thing, over and over again, taught in a very straight-forward way. And the techniques were geared toward what the players could do, what their skill sets were, and the plans were constructed around the players and what they could do.
BUFFALOTONE Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Wood was terrible over the past two years. It's blatant. He's gotta go.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Wood was terrible over the past two years. It's blatant. He's gotta go. Doug Moron's coaching will do that. He looks like a different player this season. @TyDunne Polian wants to be a consultant, yet is very critical of Doug Whaley, Rex Ryan and the team personnel in place. Outta be interesting.
Santana Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I'm down for whatever helps. Yeah we constantly do revisit the past but he's a great talent evaluator and he knows personnel. I like Whaley though he's a good GM.
BustaTimes Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 As long as he keeps his kid away, he can't hurt anything
26CornerBlitz Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Agreed with being critical of Rex, but personnel? Not so much He did by saying too many 30+ year old guys and only one pro bowler. Also was critical of Clay's and Shady's price tag. All shots at personnel and Whaley IMO.

YoloinOhio Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) And urbik if he's a starter. So either 40% or 60%, which isn't crazy to notehe isn't a starter though. Not saying he's not knowledgeable but that part didn't click for me. Edited December 24, 2015 by YoloinOhio
NoSaint Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Yea he criticized the offense which I found puzzling. The defense has been the biggest disappointment as we all know. Likewise where we saw the references from the Whaley rumors last week
26CornerBlitz Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 All playoff teams! Veteran leadership needed. @mikerodak Mike Rodak Retweeted Vic Carucci Polian notes how BUF has 9 players who are 30+ and how that could lead NFL, but NE, CIN, AZ, DEN have just as many.
