Yup. This was LAST YEAR'S 4th round pick.

Unfortunately being injured during most of the preseason, and Butler's solid play, did him in. Another good pick by Whaley and his crew.

Doubly frustrating to see Bills DB's get scorched, while Ross Cockrell makes plays week after week for the Steelers.

See what happens when you're in a place with good coaching?

or Dustin Hopkins kicking FGs for the Redskins, I wonder if he needs a kickoff specialist to help him do his job.

Hopkins and Caleb Sturgis were two great college kickers drafted by Bills and Miami. Interesting that both are kicking for different teams now, and successful.

Cockrell gets scorched aplenty! And a very poor tackler. Still better than McKelvin right now for depth - but he can't cover 1:1... He was drafted for Schwartz D. I wouldn't blame coaching for Cockrell not showing anything here. Henderson is one of the best secondary coaches around.

Injuries is what doomed Hopkins, had he stayed healthy there's no doubt he would have beaten out Carpenter.

Most kickers never end up with the team they first started with. As it usually takes them a good two or three years to establish themselves.

Hopkins was drafted to replace Lindell, he got injured right after we cut Lindell, and we brought Carpenter in to replace Hopkins after he had been placed on the IR. Carpenter did so well after his first season that we released Hopkins. I don't know why we didn't keep him as a kickoff specialist. Was that when we cut him and Moorman and brought in Gay and Schmitt?

now we probably waste another pick on a kicker, hopefully this time we keep him around a bit longer to see if he pans out

We acquired Gay and Schmitt one day after Hopkins release,

And yet when Gilmore went down, he did not have the next man up ready for the starting gig. In my book, that is not good. The Bills have too many people overrated and Henderson is one of them.

I get your point. But, no sure I agree with it.

i don't agree that he's overrated. He took Baccari Rambo off the scrap heap and turned him into a starting caliber, playmaking safety. He turned a raw rookie who looked lost in the preseason and turned him into not only a starter, but one if the best CBs in the league. McKelvin is a guy who had not played football in a calendar year and hadn't played safety since high school, yet Henderson was able to get him ready to play safety and did pretty well in that role. No, McKelvin isn't a good enough CB anymore but I don't put that all on Henderson. We all know who McKelvin is and Henderson was able to make him serviceable for a few years before he got hurt and regressed. You can blame Henderson for mckelvin's play at CB the last two games if you want, and conclude that he's overrated because of that, but I can't get there. Edited by YoloinOhio

How did McCarron do yesterday?

aj Mccarron? Good enough to win against a bad team. 192 yards and 1 TD. Hard to tell because Manziel looked good against the same team last week. But he was good enough to not lose, which is all they needed from a backup.

McCarron played a little better than Cyril Richardson, wouldn't you say?

Richardson as you know is not a very good player, but Whaley drafted him 7 picks before McCarron was selected by Cincy. I suppose Guru Whaley didn't see any need for a qb because he was enthralled by EJ Manuel. Who knows, he might still be.

The more I think about it, Whaley needs a ticket sitting next to Rex in the next plane out of town.
