League sources said Whaley has been unhappy with the ability of the staff to feature top receiver Sammy Watkins and has made that clear to other members of the organization. He would also prefer the team move on from offensive coordinator Greg Roman and others, though it is highly unlikely owner Terry Pegula would support such measures.
thebandit27 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 IF that's true, then I fear that Whaley is a goner. That would suck, since I doubt they'll be able to pry Eric DeCosta out of Baltimore. Best we could hope for is to get a Will McClay or Chris Ballard (Dallas and KC, respectively)
Heitz Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Strange - the showdown is over how the OFFENSE has played? o_O I mean, I want to see Sammy featured too, but chalk some some of that up to a first year QB. But the D, that's been the letdown...
YoloinOhio Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Lacanfora isn't the most credible reporter out there but he seems to have a source somewhere at OBD. He's the one who reported the whole "Saint Doug" story.
atlbillsfan1975 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) Hmmm, this is strange. seems like this is becoming a theme with Whaley? Trying to exert his will on his coaching staffs. If I was Whaley i think I would be taking the approach of bringing everyone back staff wise, and trying to build on talent. If Rex wasn't his hire then he is basically saying ' I told you so to the Pegulas' Edited December 20, 2015 by atlbillsfan1975
Blokestradamus Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Blow it all up and construct the new staff solely from Bills message boards. I don't need to be GM but a cushy scouting position would be nice.
YoloinOhio Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Surprising that he would want to get rid of Roman? Don't get that at all. I know he wants more targets for Sammy but Roman isn't out there throwing the ball.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/25419914/showdown-between-whaley-and-coaching-staff-could-be-brewing-in-buffalo My god if this is true Doug Whaley is a moron...but hey I have been saying this for two years now. Wants to get rid of Greg Roman...REALLY??? More and more of his tenure is looking like a Tom Donahoe clone. Edited December 20, 2015 by BuffaloBillsForever
YoloinOhio Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 I do think it's kind of a stretch to assume Pegula loves Roman just because he was a candidate for the PSU job in 2012.

I call marketing! Sal just said on WGR that everything he has been hearing is that Whaley WILL be back next year as GM. He also implies that Russ would have a say in the decision and he's a big Whaley supporter. Just like everything, should be interesting to see how it all plays out... Sal and, other guy, also seemed confuse by the Roman criticism vs focus on the D.

YoloinOhio Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Dumpsterfire.gif @NFLMedia: "There are plenty of people on this defense who miss Jim Schwartz and wish that he was still their coordinator." @RapSheet on Buffalo
machine gun kelly Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 A team won't work successfully if the GM and HC aren't fundamentally together. It sucks but Rex has more pull at this point, and the Pegulas are into too much money for him. Sucks as Whaley is a good talent evaluator.

QB Bills Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Get rid of them all. Starting with the used car salesman, russ brandon.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Get rid of them all. Starting with the used car salesman, russ brandon. If he is making decisions on the front office then absolutely. It also tells me things aren't changing much if this is the case. This report is very concerning.
jimmy10 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Sounds like a good old fashioned d*ck-swinging contest. St. Doug the Lesser made some pretty smart trades, probably feels he needs to have more power.
