The Confederate flag is about racism, treason and slavery. That’s the hill these people want to die on.

It's not about the Confederacy...........

Goodbye, Columbus

by John Hinderaker

Original Article

The current rage for tearing down statues and renaming things has reached a sort of reductio ad absurdum: the city of Columbus, Ohio has removed the statue of Christopher Columbus from in front of its City Hall. The Wall Street Journal reports: The city of Columbus, Ohio, this week unceremoniously evicted a 16-foot bronze statue . . . of Christopher Columbus. “For many people in our community, the statue represents patriarchy, oppression and divisiveness,” said Mayor Andrew Ginther, giving the removal order two weeks ago. “That does not represent our great city.”

Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee on Monday released a draft of a funding bill that includes a provision to remove statues and busts of those who served the Confederacy or have "unambiguous records of racial intolerance" from the U.S. Capitol, setting up a potential fight over the issue as President Trump emphasizes preserving such tributes in at least some circumstances.

The bill, which provides more than $4 billion to fund the legislative branch as part of the fiscal year that begins in October, is almost certain not to pass in its current form due to how Congress has run its appropriations process in recent years. But it could serve as a template for continuing resolutions that keep the government running, and the statue-removal provision could make its way into that legislation.

"The bill includes language directing the Architect of the Capitol to remove statues or busts in the U.S. Capitol that represent figures who participated in the Confederate Army or government, as well as the statues of individuals with unambiguous records of racial intolerance, Charles Aycock, John C. Calhoun, and James Paul Clarke, and the bust of Roger B. Taney," an online summary of the bill reads.

Racism does seem to make people stupid.

This is how you accurately describe President Trump’s latest actions: “Instead of working around the clock on [the pandemic], visiting hospitals, rallying the troops, rallying the public to wear masks, fight complacency, care for elderly and the sick, this president is simply declaring victory, declaring [the novel coronavirus] 99 percent harmless instead of talking about the virus and doing things about it. He’s spending his time to trying to distract now with racist and jingoistic talk. He’s just leaning full into the racist he’s long been; he’s just letting us see it more clearly now than ever before.” That was Anderson Cooper on CNN Monday night.

Don Lemon Butchers a Key Christian Doctrine While Trying to Lecture America on Statues

On Monday, CNN’s Don Lemon undermined his own argument when it comes to removing statues by engaging in what any Christian should consider outright blasphemy. In a truly bizarre moment, the CNN host suggested that the Founders were not perfect … just like Jesus Christ.

“But here’s the thing. Jesus Christ, if that’s who you believe in, Jesus Christ, admittedly was not perfect when he was here on this earth,” the CNN host falsely claimed. “So why are we deifying the Founders of this country? Many of whom owned slaves.”

This nonsensical argument reveals a great deal about Lemon’s own ignorance, not only about the impetus for protecting statues of America’s heroes but also the basic worldview of conservatives in general and Christians in particular.

If Christians believe one thing, it is that Jesus Christ is perfect. After God made humans sinless, Adam and Eve sinned, dooming humanity. God the Father sent Jesus Christ to be the perfect sacrifice to reconcile sinful humanity with a perfect God. This is Christianity 101, the most basic “Mere Christianity” on which all small-o orthodox denominations agree.

The doctrine of Jesus’ moral perfection is painfully obvious throughout the New Testament.

Here is a tiny sample of such verses:

The City of Buffalo  took down the Christopher Columbus statue in Columbus Park. If they can put it in a museum or Italian meeting place to keep it safe . The native americans have been protesting against Columbus Day for some time. This is getting sad ,  grew up with many Italian friends. I bet Russ Salvatore has a good place for the statue.
