Literally "Please stop shelling the guys who are killing the rebels we've armed."

.

No, it's not even that simple. Turkey is shelling the YPG in retribution for attacks by the TAK. The YPG cooperates with the PKK, even though they hate each other, while the TAK is independent, even though an offshoot of the PKK. While the US supports the YPG, we don't support the TAK or PKK and consider them terrorist organizations (as does NATO). Turkey, on the other hand, doesn't even recognize TAK's existence, but considers PKK a terrorist organization, AND considers YPG a terrorist organization (disagreeing with NATO's designation, notably). So it's more like "Please stop shelling the guys who are our allies even though they're cooperating with the guys we're okay with you shelling, even though they aren't the guys should be shelling because you don't think the guys you should be shelling are really guys."

Never forget, "byzantine" originates from this region...

The mystery surrounding the death of Vladimir Putin’s former press minister in a Washington hotel deepened on Thursday when an autopsy revealed blunt force injuries to his head.

Meanwhile, while we are all distracted by the Chicago nonsense, around the world our lame duck President is at it once again.

“SMART DIPLOMACY:”

The fallout from President Obama’s indiscreet remarks in Jeffrey Goldberg’s landmark Atlantic article has begun. One day after the article dropped, reports of the President dissing major world leaders and close allies fill the London papers, which highlight Obama’s belittling of David Cameron. The Times of London‘s headline blares, “Obama Lays Blame for Libya Mess on Cameron,” . . .

Expect more shoes to drop—and the anger in London and Paris will be less damaging than the fallout in other parts of the world. For instance, the Iranians are starting to weigh in. . . .

The Iranian trumpeting of Obama’s position will almost certainly not be warmly received in Riyadh, Dubai, and Amman.

This sets up an odd duality: the President in the interview is reflective, thoughtful, making a strong case for why he is wiser and more far seeing than other people. But on the other hand, running your mouth and being openly contemptuous and dismissive of fellow leaders to a journalist is the mark of a careless and clumsy amateur. As so often is the case with this President, there’s a wide gap between the cerebral processes and the ill-considered actions. This would be somewhat explicable in the rookie year of a presidency, but it’s very hard to understand in the final year of an Administration.

Obama is a failed president, and the consequences of his failed presidency will fall upon many innocents. He, however, will always find someone else to blame

Vladimir Putin orders withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria

‎3‎/‎14‎/‎2016‎

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has declared that he is withdrawing the majority of Russian troops from Syria, saying the intervention had largely achieved its objective. The news, relayed to the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, personally, followed a meeting in the Kremlin with Putin’s defence and foreign ministers. He said the pullout, reducing an intervention that began at the end of September, is due to start from Tuesday.

Community organizer, to 6 month senator, to president. Lack of experience has cost us dearly, and pandering to the "yes we can" crowd failed us badly.

That's because he was never meant to be a leader. He's was selected to be a puppet. How else would such a nobody become president?

Obama annoyed at question about ISIS policy: “I’ve got a lot of things on my plate”

Yeah...that's the job. :wallbash:

One of the funnier lines in VEEP last season was when one of the characters made a comment after the President was complaining about the unbearable workload required of a president. Her chief of staff quips: "Did you ever hear the theory that Reagan hired Hinkley just so he could get two weeks in bed?"

What exactly is filling his plate right now? His determination to get our debt and budgets under control? His big effort to secure our borders? His economic growth, tax and policy revisions? Designing a better solution to the nation's health insurance to replace Obamacare?

If true, what a way to check out:

Russian Special Forces Officer Killed near Palmyra

""The officer was carrying out a combat task in area for a week, identifying crucial IS targets and passing exact coordinates for strikes with Russian planes," he said.

"The officer died as a hero, he drew fire onto himself after being located and surrounded by terrorists,"

Calling in an airstrike on yourself to kill as many of the !@#$kers hunting you as possible... RIP Mr. Bad ass Spetsnaz.
