billsfan714 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 2004 Roethlisberger went at 11 at 13 Bills went Lee Evans. Just sayin.
Webster Guy Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Normally I agree with tanking in a situation like the infamous Rams Indy game where they both needed the loss to get Andrew Luck. Sure your fans might not like it on that day, but if it means the next decade+ with a franchise qb its good strategy. Last year even if the Pats didnt pull Brady and hand us the W, we still would have picked Darby so that worked out fine. The difference this year is that we need time to gel, to get more experience for guys like TT, Karlos, Miller, etc. Even our vets need to work on defense and learning the system. I think these last few games will be fun to watch.
1st Ammendment NoMas Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 we started the tank 16 years ago.
BobDVA Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 1 and 3 in the last four, seems to me the tank already started.
Saxum Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Why tank when we can trade 18 first round picks for the worst WR bust ever? Wish you were GM of another team since no team has ever had 18 first round picks to trade. You might have future as sports writer for Buffalo News however.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 INconceivable. Only losers tank. Imo Yeah, I hate Eichel too
simpleman Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 INconceivable. Only losers tank. Imo Yes, but brilliant owners like the owner of the Sabres do it and it is a great move. Of course the principled owner of the Bills would never consider doing it. All Hail the mighty Pegulas!
machine gun kelly Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 We're not going to tank. This is a fallacy from fans who want these draft picks. Coaches, and players are playing for their jobs, and are trying to win every game. People like Bradham needs another contract, Gilmore wants a bigger contract, TT wants an extension and so on. We'll probably finish 8-8, but 9-7 would be nice for momentum's sake. Besides, isn't everyone sick of the US looking at the Bills as a joke. Two back to back winning seasons is progress. As much as I can't stand Ryan, I wonder what his defense will look like next year when he gets his type of players. I think he is an idiot and expect to be proven right, but maybe he creates a top defense. We sure needed it this year.
Maury Ballstein Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 2004 Roethlisberger went at 11 at 13 Bills went Lee Evans. Just sayin. Is Big Ben in the 2015 draft ? Or more Geno's and Ej's? Tanking is stupid and rarely works. 3 years of it for 76ers and they have nothing to show.
Dave in Avon Lake now Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I say finish strong. The Jets won 2 of the last 3(their only loss was 17-16 to the Patriots)and look at where they are now. I have seen too many Bills teams run for the bus in my 45 years of following them. A good finish could have a positive impact on what has become another "lost" season. I keep saying it, but my MLB Pirates blew late season chances and had 20 years of futility until 2013. They've been in the playoffs 3 straight years and keep reloading in what is a more challenging situation with 2 big spending clubs fighting for the division. Time to reload, get the players we need for this defense and start beating the Patriots!
Chandler#81 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Much more important for this team to look strong heading into the offseason than to lose games. I think that you would even agree with this if the Bills did indeed turn it around and demolish Washington, Dallas and the Jets. Everyone could take some comfort that this team should be able to hit the ground running in 2016 after unfortunately taking the full 2015 season to settle into the new offense and defense. The two guys who have the most riding on these last three games are Taylor and Thurman IMO. Taylor is going to be the starter next year, but will the FO feel the need to draft a QB early if he doesn't show improvement these next three games? Thurman is on seriously shaky ground because there's no way he can come back if the defense continues to play horrible. I agree. IMO, the biggest issue this year -and we've had MANY- was the pre-season QB battle. 2/3rds of the snaps from OTA's onward weren't taken by Tyrod. Part of his continued growth this season is attributed to finally being THEE guy throwing all the time in practice and games. The team will be better situated heading into next year with 3 more games from Taylor.
papazoid Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 you will NEVER get players and coaches to tank. their livelyhoods are at stake. GM's & owners....maybe...see colts, sabres, 76ers. as far as the Bills go, it's time to prepare for next season. rest starters and get a good look at backups.
nucci Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Not even kidding. This team needs to tank the rest of the way to aim for as high a draft pick as possible and it should start this week The season is done. I now wish we had lost to Tennessee and the Jets as we'd be in much better drafting position. ps wasn't it great when Marrone beat the Patriots 2nd string to improve his coaching record?? Ahh yes, The Buffalo way of doing things......
RealityCheck Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Anyone in questionable health should be shut down while playing to win with whomever is healthy. That is what they will do regardless. Every game is a huge opportunity for this team to further evolve going into 2016.
NOVABillsFan Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 (edited) tanks but no tanks finish strong no matter what. What will they gain - 1 maybe 2 spots? Edited December 16, 2015 by NOVABillsFan
Johnny Hammersticks Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Wouldn't it be fun to knock the Jets out of the playoffs in week 17? Tank schmank!

papazoid Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 if you want to lose the next 3 games....just start EJ
