the roster is pretty good but the coach insists on being a celebutard and gets destroyed by mediocre to good coaches like Reid, Kelly, Belichick etc

I would say Reid and Belicheat are the best in the business. Kelly is among the worst and is only alive due to the rotten division he is in. Rex is a bottom feeder as well. Here is one quick example- the Eagles score and kick off to us. We had to call a time out prior to the first offensive snap.

Some small changes. Fire Thurman, hopefully Pettine gets fired by Cleveland. Bring him back. Tell Rex to stay away from the D. If he can't deal w/ that, let him walk and bring in Hue Jackson.

Roman has been fine, IMO. The HC has created this ridiculous penalty culture.

I'd be all for canning Rex. Assembling Hue, Schwartz, and Roman.

That likely wont' happen. Player wise I could see getting rid of Mario Williams if there is a DE/OLB in the draft the Bills like, and he could be traded for a draft pick or a WR or OL.

I'll have what he's smoking... this isnt madden. You can't trade a vastly overpaid lineman - you can only cut him or get a low value draft pick.

Hue Jackson was spurned by us last year - and isn't going to work for an owner that is so disloyal that he fires his head coach 1 year in. The Pegula's are business minded - and rex has already made them a lot of money. They aren't going to eat 20 mil when were no better or worse than we were a year ago.

Very few teams thrive in their first year with a new qb and completely new defensive and offensive systems.

Tyrod is a much better option than any qb we are gonna draft next year, and we have solid talent.

We need less penalties, better adjustments at halftime, a some OL and LB help. 8-8 this year, 10-6 next year.

I agree. Pieces are in place now and we just need a few upgrades. Bring in all the top talent you want though. If they don't get the penalties under control next year it won't matter. Not impressed with Rex Ryan so far.

it's what successful organizations do all the time.

the bills are on their fifth DC in as many years. getting new ones all the time is paying huge dividends for this team. i'm looking forward to the new guy in 2016!

They blew it up last year. And two years before that. And two years before that. Annnnd two years before that...

MAYBE it's worth sticking with one program for more than a season.

Whoa, easy there, Mr. Reasonable. There's no place for balanced, rational thought here.

I do often wonder how many organizational leaders spend time here. My gut tells me not many, if any at all.

We need a full evaluation of our coaching staff. Rex Ryan needs to evaluate his entire operation and himself and come up with solutions to problems that have plagued him his entire coaching career. The way he carries himself, the way he talks and brags and ignores the little details all come out and manifest in the way he team plays. We make little mistakes that cost us victories, we are mentally weak as a team and crack under pressure.

When we hired Rex I was ecstatic. Now I am worried that he's so washed up in his way of doing things he won't ever realize that he himself needs to change in order to take this team where he wants us to go. Rex will always be outcoahed by the cerebral coaches like belichick, coughlin, harbaugh, tomlin etc until he changes his approach in running the team. His dad got fired, his brother got fired and hes been fired because they're all wild and run their mouths. I'm really worried that Rex is more media hype than he is a good nfl coach

I honestly don't know what the right answer is anymore. What I do know is that if they get it wrong this time, a 16 year playoff drought can easily stretch another two to four years, which seems to defy all laws of probability. I'll always support this team without hesitation, but at some point even the most loyal fans have a breaking point.

Let Whaley go he never did really upgrade an agining defensive line which was gifted to him. As well as continually sticking with EJ and blaming the Coaching staffs for not getting going.

This only makes sense if you really believe Rex can change his stripes. He is genuinely a horrible coach and the Pegulas were bamboozled. Rex was a flash in the pan for his first two years. He's been a disaster ever since. Does anyone believe he can change. I don't. The Pegulas should cut their losses buy him out and consider the money lost a hard lesson learned.

Yup. They got very uneven QB play which is to be expected from a first year starter.

Other than the Jax game which they threw away, have there really been any big surprises in the W-L record? Did people really think the Bills were going to be one of the 4 or 5 elite teams that swept through all those games against middle of the pack teams?

The problem is the roster needs to be blown up and they haven't done that.

If you told me (or anyone) in August that the Bills would have a starting QB rated 101 in week 14 with about 400 rushing yards... I would have been wondering who the Bills would have to play in the Divisional Round after the bye

Yeah you keep saying that. We hear you. You've taken the contrarian position that Whaley sucks and you want everyone to know. Got it.

After yet another disappointing season, how will the off season "reload" look? Do we really blow it and make massive moves or do we simply make adjustments.

I think the age of Williams will come to end.

I can foresee Mario and Kyle Williams both being released. I can see Jerry Hughes being moved to OLB. It looks like Aaron Williams may have to strongly consider giving in up and Duke Williams, well he isn't very good anyhow. Leodis McKelvin is clearly another guy who has to go. There's plenty of good young talent on the defensive side of the ball but obviously, Rex's great attacking defense needs "his" players.

The offensive side of the ball seems to be all about the O-line. Do we invest big time in Cordy Glenn? Are there better options? Is he worth a big time contract, which is what he would ask for. Is Richie Incognito resigned? He is 32 now, and maybe yesterday was a preview of things to come. What about Eric Woods? Can we do better? And then the right side, which has been below average at best. Obviously both John Miller and Seantrel Henderson will be back. You can't upgrade and rebuild an entire O-line in one off season. We also need a big receiver, a backup running back who can stay healthy.

We also might need a new kicker and exactly why do we waste a roster spot on a kickoff specialist?

Lots of changes are coming in my book but will they mean a thing? Based on recent history, say the entire 21st century worth of history, it seems unlikely.

Ok, step back from the ledge buddy...

Defense first:

Rex will have a hand in reforming this D in the 3-4 he prefers. Remember, Whaley is a 3-4 guy too - that's what Pittsburgh always ran. He can scout LB's with the best of them.

Possible Losses:

Mario is restructured or released.

Kyle is restructured or retires.

A. Williams will not come back this year due to the risk...Possibly retires.

McKelvin may be brought back at a favorable $$ amount. He's not as bad as you think. You can't have Revis/Sherman-level talent at every spot!!!

Bradham in FA???

Needs -

HUGE NT, even if KW comes back. Move Kyle and Marcel to the DE spots. They both have the quickness to play outside the guard. That also gives you flexibility with Marcel - move him to any of the three spots. This will be a veteran free agency signing. It doesn't require a flashy guy, just a mountain of a guy to hold up 2+ blockers on every play.

LB to replace Bradham if he walks, plus one more to replace Mario as we go to 3-4 (will Powell work when he recovers???) We made the right move on Alonso btw...did you see him over-pursue on the TD run by Gillislie? That is why Rex was glad to move him!

SAFETY - Rambo is a good 3rd safety for Rex, but is not AWilliams or even Searcy (that FA loss has hurt us all year).

Corners are looking good, even without McKelvin back.

We could have used Gay's roster position for rotational DL help yesterday. Kelly ran us ragged with the speed offense in the second half. Our line was obviously winded at times.

Offense

Oline is still WAY better than last year, but we need to upgrade the right side and retain Cogs on a 2 year deal.

Losses:

Urbik?

Incognito?

Needs:

We need to spend another high draft pick on OL help, preferably at RT. I think Wood has improved this year. I like how Roman gets him out in space so that he doesn't get overpowered by 350 lb. NTs. He's athletic and Roman is using him better - kinda like Gailey...and to me, that's a good indication of the quality of Roman in the run/screen game. I could see us drafting a 5 or 6 round Center/Guard combo to compete with Urbik.

We may need to get another RB because Los seems injury prone, but Gillislee [sp!] has shown a spark. I like the kid...I wonder how he does in pass protection??? Boobie should probably hit the road...too many boneheaded penalties. He's like Hughes, minus the talent and upside!

A veteran receiver (like you said above) on a friendly contract would be nice to provide a little leadership to the immature receiving corps, but I'm not sure that will happen. Woods will have to be that guy (scary!).

TE - they will bring in another guy to push Gragg and O'leary again. I'm hoping we don't clog the roster with another Mulligan, but that's always a possibility.

Special Teams

Carp's days may be done...why not try some other guys through the end of this season? Money is one reason...

It drives me nuts that we waste a roster spot on Gay. It is even worse when I see Dustin Hopkins kicking for Washington! I'd love to get a kicker who can do both or a punter that can handle kickoffs too.

Sanborn, Schmidt, and Easly stick around for another tour of duty.

I agree completely. As surprised and pleased as I have been with TT this year, I am ecstatic about what he will bring next year. This guy is a film-room warrior, which is one of the keys to greatness in the NFL. He will have a highly profitable offseason looking at some important trends...like gambling on 30 yard passes on 3rd and 4! There are flaws, but they are easily corrected. He and his coaches will get it done this offseason.

I think that you have actually seen some evaluation and adaptation during the season. Yesterday, I was so sure Rex was going to challenge that "fumble" on the sideline. I was glad to see him get on the headset and talk to his people. He didn't blow it. That shows that they made adjustments and the adjustments paid off.

It is common for coaches to respond to adversity better in their second stint. I'm confident that Rex will go home in the offseason and make some changes.

Some small changes. Fire Thurman, hopefully Pettine gets fired by Cleveland. Bring him back. Tell Rex to stay away from the D. If he can't deal w/ that, let him walk and bring in Hue Jackson.

There is no way you bring Hue and Roman together. That is like bringing Schwartz and Rex together. They are from fundamentally contradictory systems.
