so meyer...who only came back to coaching cause his wife let him as long as he lowered his workload and spent time with his kids...is going into a high pressure tire fire of an organization for some extra money? He's making a ton at osu and he doesn't seem like the guy to run at money.

Jimmy Johnson's wife didn't want him to go to Dallas so he left he in Tallahassee. Dallas was tire fire at the time going 1-15 the year before.

I could see it happening in one scenario. That is if sanctions are coming down he could skate out before the axe falls ala Pete Carroll (Seahawks were Pretty much on fire at the time) and Chip Kelly. But if that were the case he could probably find a better mplace than Cleveland to go.

No way Cleveland can induce him with cash.

Based on what exactly? The NFL is littered with college coaching "geniuses" who were going to revolutionize the game. Most jump back to college first chance they get.

was Marrone one of these "geniuses"? HA!

http://www.chatsports.com/cleveland-browns/a/exclusive-browns-preparing-offer-urban-meyer-biggest-coaching-contract-nfl-history-24607

Some excerpts:

"Following numerous conversations exclusive to Chat Sports over the last month with several of our most trusted sources, we have learned that the Cleveland Browns have plans to fire head coach Mike Pettine and offer Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer the largest coaching contract in NFL history. The contract would also likely include an option for a small equity ownership in the Browns' organization. The sources are close to Browns ownership and have ties to several Big Ten athletic departments."

"Our sources tell us that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is leading the pursuit of Meyer, and that he is prepared to give Meyer full front-office control, including the future of GM Ray Farmer."

Yea, I'm not buying it.

Even if its true, Urban would be an idiot to walk into that dumpster fire.

That is a lot of control to guy who has never been a HC in the NFL.

Haslam seems desperate, which is reasonable considering the success of the Browns but not sure this the way to go.

Hope it happens just to see if it works or not.

the NFL is not quite the same as college, but if there is a coach that will turn the Browns franchise around, this is the guy.

Really like the guy from western Michigan, but again who knows how a college coach will do. A guy like Harbaugh did well because he spent time in the NFL so maybe a guy who has been in the League for awhile and a College coach might do well.

Greg Schiano is going to be the new DC at OSU. Just tacking on to this thread for all the people who would spit fire at me for starting a thread about OSU on here - lol. Just thought interesting since he's a former NFL coach.
