So the media is to blame ... Maybe it was the ignorants who voted for him

If you believe in the theory that there's a different treatment of the D & R candidates from most of the media, and how they present the candidates on air, then yes, media shoulders part of the blame.

In any case, this race from my perspective is almost over.

I know there are months to go, but it's like getting the NFL schedule and seeing the Bills/Pats* matchup dates. Yeah, anything can happen, but we know better.

Unfortunately, the damage Trump is doing will unquestionably give Hillary the house and senate, in which case Hillary will start adding a couple of more wise Latinas to the bench, and we'll be two Ikea grand openings away from the Scandinavian paradise SoProgs like gatorman/...lybob, birdog and baskin so desperately want for our country.

Hillary just needs to feign laryngitis for the next 3 months. Trump is doing all her negative campaigning for her.

The media would treat any Republican candidate the same way. In Trump's case he is simply an easier target than most and doesn't defend himself well.

She should hire Dick Jauron as her campaign manager.

She should hire Dick Jauron as her campaign manager.

He does know how to play slow ball.

Trump could borrow one of his catch phrases: "It's hard to win an election."

Of course the media would do this. He is ratings gold and from their perspective one of the easiest possible candidates for their more preferred candidate to pummel.

One of the most interesting turnarounds I've ever seen in the media comes from the Morning Joe show. Joe, at heart is a populist. So I do believe he truly was in the tank for Trump, during the primaries he on a daily basis shredded Rubio and not quite as often Cruz while incessantly propping up Trump. What I found to be curious was how much Mika also talked him up. It got so bad that many people in the media roundly criticized and mocked them for doing so and tagged their show as the Morning Trump.

Now it makes more sense, Mika all along pulled a Claire McCaskill and was doing her "duty" for the Democratic party. To say that they've done a 180 on Trump would be a massive understatement. Joe on the other hand, is a Republican. I think he did his complete turnaround on him because A) he's banging Mika and she whispers sweet silent nothings in his ear at night and B) That's what their viewers want to see and at the end of the day that's what he'll do.

In any case, this race from my perspective is almost over. Trump needs to have something shake up the race, he either needs to have a great debate or something needs to come out and hurt Hillary.

In regards to the debate, say what you will about Hillary, she's a solid debater. Knowing Trump and how ****ty of a debater he is and how the media is absolutely locked in on Trump with the sharks swirling around, I don't see that being a turning point for him.

Well said and I agree with most of it except the bolded section. This was never a true race. It was always a coronation and it is indeed over.

The media is a mouthpiece, bought and controlled by the folks who want HRC to be president. They didn't create Trump, they just allowed him to metastasize in order to help their chosen candidate.

The GOP is done. They should have done their serious soul searching and reshuffling in '08 but they chose instead to try to ride it out with obstructionism. That was a mistake and it might cost them their whole party. They're going to lose big, Trump will take down a few senate seats with him, and it'll be a wrap.

Now there are allegations that polls are being doctored to show Hilary in the lead. Hilary is so awful that Trump can't even tank this election properly.

While the Republicans struggle to reform their party, the Democrats are laughing at them while their own house burns to the ground as well. There are no winners here.

Oh there are and will be winners. It just won't be the American people.

Thinking the WH was interested in anything OTHER than ensuring the right was painted as obstructionists would truly earn you the title of 'deranged.'

This president only knows two things: doing what he wants as driven by his warped ideology, and then blaming the other party when it doesn't work out by calling it racism.

The left poisoned the well, and while the GOP could have done many things differently, they cowered under the racism yells because they were so effective, and now we have a Democrat on the GOP ticket.

It will now happen again with Hillary as she pushes forward her warped agenda, and when it fails, she will explain that it would have worked had she not been treated differently because she's a woman.

How anyone could align themselves with such a bunch of pathetic 'blameless victims' is beyond comprehension.

Because it makes them feel good about themselves, reality be damned.

I'm sure this will be proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic.

No doubt the left was going to paint them negatively regardless, I concede that fully but that's not the point I'm making. The point was the GOP could have and should have taken active measures to address the obvious problems within their own party and platforms after '08, and that in turn would have left them stronger today regardless of how the left painted them. But they didn't. And because they didn't, Trump is their party's candidate today.

That's not to say it's the only reason they're stuck with Trump today. But it's a major contributing factor.

It was clear way back then that the GOP was backing forever losing positions on certain social issues, which in turn made it easy for the moderate voter and independents to tune them out when those stances were taken to task in social media and by the corporate media. It made it easy for the left to trash the right and it became easier for undecided voters to ignore the right's other positions on economics and foreign policy matters. Because of this, the right was never able reach beyond their own echo chambers, which only furthered the party's stagnation and made the moderates within the party feel that they were being ignored.

'08 was the time to rally the party, rebrand and come back stronger in '12 so that their economic and foreign policy issues could lead the way. In order to do so they'd have to be honest about the cost of 8 years of unchecked federal expansion under W to show they've learned from their mistakes and get realistic about modernizing their social platform. That is the only way they could have found new, more electable voices from within their ranks and simultaneously taken the teeth out of the left's attacks.

They didn't do any of that. Instead they decided to make upending 44 their sole focus, which only played into the left's hands as we're seeing today. Trump is the end result of not addressing these issues in '08. His ascendancy wouldn't have been possible had the GOP not turned its back on moderates from 2000-2012.

On the flip side, the dems have turned their back on moderates as well and if anyone other than Trump (or Bush, or Cruz, or Rubio, or Christie, or Kasich) were running against HRC they'd be stuck in the same situation: facing a losing cause and needing to rethink a lot of their positions and platforms. But because HRC is going to win, and win big, and because Trump is going to probably take down several GOP senators along the way, the DNC won't be forced to reexamine itself and the whole country will suffer because of it.

If the GOP has any hope of surviving Trump and winning back the executive in the next cycle, they need to start looking inward.

I couldn't be a Trump supporter because I'm not a Democrat.

I'm not blind to why Trump is the nominee. I'm saddened and worried. But not blind.

The Democratic party is getting over-run by communists who self describe as socialist, but being held back by the Wallstreet elite.

Meanwhile the GOP is getting flooded by former Democrats fleeing the loony left, but become reluctant to come forward when they're suddenly called bigots for expressing the same opinions they held while part of the Democratic party.

So Which liberal is going to steer this ship into the Obamacare Iceberg ahead?

I think you're seeing a lot of center Democrats and center Republicans becoming more interested in the Libertarian Party, and if that platform provides a better place for them to call home.

And in a backhand compliment, this is what's better about the GOP base and blue for America. There is internecine fighting for the future because change is afoot. But the Dems are clinging to the cliff because there's still hope for change.

History of man id's ask about upheaval, destruction and rebirth. The societies that die are the ones who resist change.
