IDBillzFan Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 "Imagine all the tax payer savings, if people weren't charged with battery for something like moving someone's arm out of the way....woo hoo hoo" Imagine all the tax payer savings if people charged with battery didn't openly and repeatedly lie about it before they were charged. Woo hoo!
truth on hold Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) Imagine all the tax payer savings if people charged with battery didn't openly and repeatedly lie about it before they were charged. GG Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Imagine a civilized society where a grown up man doesn't need to shove a woman, lie about it, and then try to slander her.
IDBillzFan Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 "....which is totally irrelevant to if he actually committed battery, and cost tax payers nothing ....woo hoo hoo" I'm hopeful this will blow over soon and Trump can get back to the business of running for president and explaining his policies in detail. Oh, yeah, wait, who am I kidding. "I'm gonna build a wall! And make Mexico pay for it. Thank you. You've been wonderful audience. Don't forget to tip your waitress."
Deranged Rhino Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 That's because I can't follow a conversation. That one is on me. I don't even remember what point I was trying to make. All good!
Dante Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 lol Mexican propaganda. Classic. This just keeps getting better and better. If Trump were to become president what the hell are these disphite outfits like Mexico and China gonna do? Keep the entertainment coming guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V48ttgGqssw
TakeYouToTasker Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 "Imagine all the tax payer savings, if people weren't charged with battery for something like moving someone's arm out of the way....woo hoo hoo"Grownups don't put their hands on other people to solve their problems. When they do, we have a system in place to punish them accordingly. The solution to not having that system used at taxpayer expense is to not put your hands on other people to solve your problems. The fault for this lies with the person who got physical with another person, not with the person who got manhandled. Further, the police agree with me. If they felt it was frivolous then no arrests would have been made.

That's why the system is in place. End of story. Go be an idiot elsewhere.
reddogblitz Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 The only way to prevent this sort of spending in politics is to limit the scope of government, such that there is no influence to purchase. Outlaw political advertising outright. Cigarette companies have no freedom of speech in regards to advertising on TV.

I don't think I've ever heard of a worse idea.

I presume actual reporting, debates, or other speech with actual information content (instead of blatant manipulation) would be allowed.

Why shouldn't a candidate, or another party, be able to purchase a medium for speech and use that medium to outline why I should cast a vote for them, or against an opponent? That's the very nature of political speech.

And the government censors false advertising all the time.

What I find to be problematic are the uneducated electorate, most of whom have no stake in the size and scope of government.

I don't think I've ever heard of a worse idea. When have you ever watched on a political TV ad that "informed" you of anything? They could still flood your email box to inform you or you could watch the dedates to be informed. You coulkd go to thier web site to see where they stand. Would also substantially cut the cost of a campaign.

What I find to be problematic are the uneducated electorate, most of whom have no stake in the size and scope of government. But sanctioning an elite minority to bombard those same uneducated folks with 24/7 with lies helps the problem? How? Doesn't that just ensure that they remain uneducated without a stake in the size and scope of government?
