RK_BillsFan Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Look lets just all agree on a few things here: 1) Tyrod is doing OK. Not fantastic, not terrible. OK - He sure as hell can throw it better (maybe not as accurately) than anyone we've had. 2) Our O-line sucks..... 3) Running game is inconsistent. See #2 3) Where the !@#$ is the plays designed to use Clay who we paid out the ass for. I feel like he's a forgotten man. 4) The regression of our D has really really been noticeable is NOT acceptable. 5) Combining #1 and 3 - Does it feel like Woods is almost invisible and Hogan seems almost passable as a WR 3? We need a True #2. Edited December 3, 2015 by RK_BillsFan

We need a True #2. Can you honestly say the O Line sucks when you have the #2 rushing attack in the NFL? - TT's sacks are high because he spends to much time scrambling / looking to run if he can. Why isn't Sammy being used? If TT is as accurate as the claims then throwing to a covered Sammy shouldn't be an issue with his hands. Why isn't Clay being used? See numerous post about him not scanning the entire field at times Edited December 3, 2015 by BillsFan-4-Ever

Looked to me like Hotrod had good protection last week but decided to fish hook out and run to the sidelines instead of stepping into the clean pocket in front of him.
QCity Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I'd set the odds on Taylor making it through these final 5 games without getting hurt at 50/50. The odds of him ever starting all 16 games in a season are about "Oh God, pass me that bottle of hard liquor."
Direhard Fan Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 As far as I see it Tyrod is in his first year and showing a lot of promise. We have five more games and all the talk is about next year. Please stop. We all know the "O" line is a problem. God Bless the left side. When we drop back Darius for pass coverage we all know we have a coaching problem . I believe we have to fix that first and foremost. I have no idea unless Terry wants to bite the bullet and get a new leader. Rex just hasn't cut it. The next five games will tell us a lot.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 * when he throws for less than 20 passes per game Link please... I want to see if the guy who is 5 of 6 w/wa rating of 150 is still 2nd best. The Washington Post NFL stat page yesterday indicated that he's number 5.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Looked to me like Hotrod had good protection last week but decided to fish hook out and run to the sidelines instead of stepping into the clean pocket in front of him. It did to me as well. Taylor was only sacked once on 38 passes. Not too shabby.
billsfan_34 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Tyrod needs to run more. It provides an extra angle that is tough to defend. The more he runs, the more spies and pass rushers they will counter with. The more spies and pass rushers, the more open the passing lanes become over the middle. Unfortunately, it comes with an exponentially greater risk of injury especially considering his is no Cam Newton size wise. He is not our problem this year at all. It's our D. When you lose Kyle Williams, Mario Williams, Aaron Williams to injury. You lose significant depth at DLine and LB so when your starters do go out, you aren't playing with your second string guys (which was a strength of ours in camp) you are playing with 3rd, 4th, and PS guys instead, it makes a huge difference. Jairus Wynn, Ty Powell, now Alex Carrington all hurt big time. We lost Bradham last week and the guy who replaced him got cut the next day because he was so terrible. Yeah, every team has injuries, but not every team loses their best players AND their backups. The problem with a qb running too much is it throws off the entire offense. Its a nice weapon to have but cant be the go to. He has to know when to pick and choose when or when not to run and make that decision much quicker than he has. TT is still learning and should get better. Also keep in mind that the QB thats young also needs a good HC that manages the game which Rex doesnt. If he was further along in development some of our major clock mismanagement issues would be mute. An experienced qb in those situations can run the offense themselves or at least have 2 plays called in at once.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) The Washington Post NFL stat page yesterday indicated that he's number 5. Again with this. Are you looking at the stats and comparative rations? # 5 in pass completion % with 250 total attempts in 9 total games. Please look at his stats when he throws over 30 times in a game. Those stats are significantly lower than when he only throws 15 times in a game. In the last 2 games he's completed < 56% of his passes. That is about 20 % lower than is average of 74.2 in his first 3 games. Other than the 2nd Miami game with 12 total passes his rate has been dropping steadily with a healthy Sammy, Shady and Clay. Starter Yes. Franchise QB. No, not at this time. Edited December 3, 2015 by BillsFan-4-Ever
BillsVet Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) It could be argued that we have been concentrating on it pretty heavily since 2013. Since then we've had a bunch of QBs get a look AND drafted one in the first round after a masterful trade down by Whaley. Tarvaris Jackson Fitz EJ Manuel Jeff Tuel Kevin Kolb Thaddeus Lewis Dennis Dixon Matt Cassell Josh Johnson Vaughan Matt Flynn Tyrod Taylor Kyle Orton Of those 13, 8 are still on NFL rosters and 4 have started NFL games this year. That's an average 4.33 QBs brought in per year. I expect to see Whaley very diligent in the off season to find a really good one someway somehow. May not be successful, but it won't be for a lack of trying. Quantity does not equal quality. And Fitzpatrick was signed in 2009 before Buddy and Whaley got there. Back then, Russ Brandon emphatically declared he would not challenge Trent Edwards. I still maintain there isn't a team which has done less at the position since Buddy Nix started the current rebuild which is now into its 6th season. Since that time the Bills have drafted all of 1 QB in the top 2 rounds and he didn't work out. Of the names you've listed, they were acquired UDFAs/Street FAs: Brian Brohm, Jeff Tuel, Dennis Dixon, Josh Johnson, Matt Flynn UFAs: Tyler Thigpen, Kevin Kolb, Kyle Orton, Tyrod Taylor (only Orton was paid more than 4M more per season) Trade: Tarvaris Jackson, Thad Lewis, Matt Cassel Draft: EJ Manuel (1st), Levi Brown (7th) That's 14 QBs Nix and/or Whaley brought in, not including camp auditions like Matt (Max) Leinart, Vince Young, and Jordan Palmer And who is "Vaughan?" PromoTheRobot Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Excuses excuses. A Franchise QB can carry a lackluster defense. See Drew Brees, Peyton Manning (not 2015) and Andrew Luck types. You keep saying this but not proving it. The Saints have the same defensive stats as the Bills in 2015. Is Brees carrying them?

Is Brees carrying them? The Bills have (how did they phrase it) Historically the worst Defense in the NFL? Because that is what I heard. Some of the stats mentioned dated back 50 + years. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-orleans-saints/post/_/id/19320/saints-pass-defense-historically-bad-bonehead-plays-dont-help The New Orleans Saints defense is making NFL history this year. That's not a good thing. The Saints (4-5) are on pace to allow the highest opponents' passer rating of all-time (112.0), according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The current record of 110.9 was set by the 0-16 Detroit Lions in 2008. At least the Saints have some company -- the 2015 Lions are also on pace to break the record (111.1). They are also allowing a league-high 6.47 yards per play -- which Elias says would be the most since the 1961 Minnesota Vikings (6.51). Care to elaborate on - the Bills having the same stats in 2015 http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/total/position/defense Total Def ranking - Buffalo 19, Saints 31 Passing D ranking - Buffalo 22, Saints 31 Rushing D ranking - Buffalo 14, Saints 30 Receiving D ranking - Buffalo 18, Saints 30 http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/downs/position/defense Allowing 1st downs - Buffalo 23, Saints 32 I found one where the Saints are better - Sacks - Buffalo 29th w/16, Saints T 20th w/23 Edited December 3, 2015 by BillsFan-4-Ever
PromoTheRobot Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 If our defense was half the defense it was last year nobody is questioning Tyrod as a starter because we're winning more games. Tyrod is doing what we need him too. Not turn the ball over and hit on big plays. Yes he does need to see the middle of the field more, but he is not the problem. The problem is the lack of discipline at all levels from stupid penalties, to missed challenges, and defensive breakdowns. No discipline. +100. If our D played like 2014 and we were 8-3, Tyrod would be da man.
metzelaars_lives Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 The degree to which certain posters are bending over backwards to cherry pick stats that reflect Taylor in a negative light when those same exact posters did the same exact thing to defend EJ Manuel and somehow try and portray him in a positive light is so utterly blatant and comical at this point.
....lybob Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Tyrod will be our franchise QB next year because he's probably the Best QB we can get, I do think we will look for a replacement to EJ and if RG3 is available at the right price he could be it . RG3 style is more similar to Tyrod and considering that Tyrod is bound to miss a few games it could be a good situation for him too.

I was only referring to since 2013. While Fitz and Jackson were already on the roster, they were run off since then. Brohm, and Bad Bad Levi Brown pre dated that. As far as who Vaughan is: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9749/dustin-vaughan Sadly, they don't sell franchise QBs at 7-11.
metzelaars_lives Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 And also, the bills' OL does not "suck." In fact the left side of the OL is one of the very best in football. Cordy Glenn is quietly having an excellent season and meanwhile, half the posters on here were saying two weeks ago that they would prioritize re-signing Woods over Glenn. This site really makes me wonder sometimes.
