John from Riverside Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Im torn over all of it - Yes....last years defense was top 5 and I miss it - I dont think people understand just how much the injuries of this year have depleted this team.......Aaron Williams is a huge loss......Mario has been knicked up....missing Kyle WIlliams BUT I keep coming back to this....Rex Ryan has made his bones in the NFL as a defensive coach......maybe talent makeup of this team just does not mesh with Ryan's defensive philosophy....this is a guy that MADE AARON MAYBIN productive and in no way shape or form am I defending Rex....who took something beautiful and made it average. For instance.....In a Rex Ryan D if you had a quality space eater to take up blockers and that extra athletic linebacker......that is where your pass rush comes from.....allows you to do more things with your D...... We have not had a true quality NT on this team since Ted Washington....and that defense was BEAUTIFUL.....closest thing I saw was when Red Bryant was playing in preseason......Marcel does not want to be a NG....he wants to attack.
