@DZangaroCSN

After Nolan Carroll broke his ankle, the Eagles are signing CB Jaylen Watkins off the Bills' practice squad, according to league sources.

@mikerodak

Jaylen Watkins’ signing with the Eagles sets up possibility that it’s WR Sammy vs. CB Jaylen Watkins on Dec. 13 in Philadelphia.

Its jaylens decision...he could choose not to sign. Buffalo can give him more money to stay. I think an incentive is to get inside info on a team they are due to play.

the Eagles have to sign him to the 53. Why would he stay on the PS if he can play on an active roster?

Other players have chosen not to sign with teams off practice squads, why not him?

He may think he may get more development from Bills' coaches than Eagles', may think he has a better chance of making roster next year if he stays with Bills, etc.

there is just no comparison looking at the DB depth in buffalo vs Phil. It is a significant increase in pay to go to the active roster and he's not going to see that opportunity with the Bills anytime soon. If he gets hurt, he will be in a much better position on the active roster than a PS. Cierre Wood is an example. Edited by YoloinOhio

There was a player the Bills tried to sign from a PS and he turned down a contract and I am sure he is not only one. If you are signed off a PS you are only guaranteed 3 games.

Not necessarily an increase. Philly could offer the minimum. IIRC, there is no limit on what a team pays their PS guys, only a minimum, so in theory Buffalo could offer him the same as a PS player if they really wanted him to stick around.

It was Matt Simms, wasn't it? After the Tennessee game?

The problem with this whole thread is everyone here is thinking like fans and can't think why a player who plays a position that on Buffalo has the most depth and could go elsewhere to make more money would want to leave Buffalo. And it assumes the Bills really do want him to stick around. Other than he's Sammy's brother what reason is there the Bills would want to keep him other than anyone else on their practice squad. I highly doubt they would offer him more money than any other player on the PS unless they truly think that he was a steal getting him and giving him one year on the PS will turn him into an absolute 53 man roster player for them next season.

Yes it was Matt Simms, but thought it was before the season even started. And his reason for turning Buffalo down would be the same reason that JW would leave, Simm's felt he had a better chance of sticking with Atlanta just as I'd think JW would see there's way too much depth in front of him here in Buffalo so he's better off leaving

Yes Matt Simms was one who they tried to sign as backup for trip to London but he is not only PS player who has rejected signing up for 53 man roster of a team.
