machine gun kelly Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I'm so sorry for Doug and his family. Even when you are preparing for it like I dealt with my mom, it still crushes you, but to then lose your other parent unexpectedly, I can't even comprehend. I always like Flutie, and he is the last solid QB we had here.
GunnerBill Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 That is CRAZY to both die of heart attacks, an hour apart from each other. Just wow. Imagine the stress of losing your lifelong partner can put on your heart. Tragic but not as suprising as it first appears. I know my grandparents were like that and once my grandad began to suffer with dementia and became a shell of himself it killed my grandma quite quickly. She couldn't cope with the stress and ultimately it killed her. Condolences to the Flutie family.
Saxum Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Actually, for couples who have been together that long it's not as rare as you might think -- although perhaps not within an hour. That's nuts. Same thing happened in my family. My uncle was ill for a long time being taken care of my by my aunt whose health was getting worse and worse. He finally succumbed to illness and she died shortly afterwards same day. I believe they had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary - I could not attend due to a vicious central NY snowstorm. My condolences to him and his family.
The Jokeman Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 My well wishes go out to Flutie and those in the close circle to him and his parents yet something about the story doesn't sit right with me. It just seems to perfect but as someone who understands and has little issues with euthansia I understand if that's how one of the parents wanted it, well so be it.
Chef Jim Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Did he look behind the couch? Hey, you grieve your way, I'll grieve mine.
RevWarRifleman Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 My deepest sympathy to the whole Flutie family.
3rdand12 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Leroi, this is the ONE time I'll have to agree with you!! yes. he has a heart too. I cannot imagine anything much harder to suffer. I hope his family can find peace that they left together. maybe some beauty to this Same thing happened in my family. My uncle was ill for a long time being taken care of my by my aunt whose health was getting worse and worse. He finally succumbed to illness and she died shortly afterwards same day. Yep. more common then one might suppose. some of us older folks have seen this. Folks hang on for one another. It's beautiful in so many ways. But brutal to the ones remaining might suppose. For the young folks, its something to ponder.
John Gianelli Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Prayers for Doug and all the Fluties.
Fan in Chicago Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I will freely admit. This poignant story of their demise within an hour if each other has brought a tear to my eye twice today.
BarleyNY Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 So sorry for your loss, Doug. Condolences to the whole Flutie family.
justnzane Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Gargamel finally got them. that is ice cold. I love it.
Marv's Neighbor Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Truly tragic! Condolences and prayers to Doug and his family.
SF Bills Fan Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Very sad- both having heartattacks within an hour of each other. Just terrible. I had a buddy in Buffalo who had his dad pass and his mom pass a month later. She could not go in without her husband. A month is really bad, but an hour is unfathomable. .
Freddie's Dead Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 All the best to Doug and the Flutie family.
