Wrong.  the applicable law is 8 USC 1225.  That governs the border inspection and interview process.  Not 8 USC 1158.

You guys can go back and forth on the details of the law but the core question remains...what recently changed in Central America to cause this flood of asylum seekers? I haven’t seen anything about a natural disaster, war or other catastrophic event. In other words, their claims are fraudulent! These are opportunists looking for work. They aren’t running AWAY from anything. They’re running TOWARDS jobs in the American economy. Claim denied!
