B-Man Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) As per TYTT's suggestion. Liberals Should Knock Off the Mockery Over Calls to Limit Syrian Refugees By Kevin Drum http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2015/11/liberals-should-knock-mockery-over-calls-limit-syrian-refugees (Mother Jones, of all places) FTA: Here's the thing: to the average person, it seems perfectly reasonable to be suspicious of admitting Syrian refugees to the country. We know that ISIS would like to attack the US. We know that ISIS probably has the wherewithal to infiltrate a few of its people into the flood of refugees. And most voters have no idea how easy it is to get past US screening. They probably figure it's pretty easy . So it doesn't seem xenophobic or crazy to call for an end to accepting Syrian refugees. It seems like simple common sense. After all, things changed after Paris. Mocking Republicans over this—as liberals spent much of yesterday doing on my Twitter stream—seems absurdly out of touch to a lot of people. Not just wingnut tea partiers, either, but plenty of ordinary centrists too. It makes them wonder if Democrats seriously see no problem here? Do they care at all about national security? Are they really that detached from reality? Overlooked point on public opinion with refugees: when Americans routinely see the administration ignore the law, they become skeptical. Ron FournierVerified account @ron_fournier 5h5 hours ago Odd: Republicans don't trust US government to screen Syrian refugees, but do trust US government to deploy grounds troops in Syria. LOL..............he suggests critics see little daylight between the DOD and the people at State. Government is government . Edited November 17, 2015 by B-Man

Not just wingnut tea partiers, either, but plenty of ordinary centrists too. It makes them wonder if Democrats seriously see no problem here? Do they care at all about national security? Are they really that detached from reality? They are not detached from reality with respect to what may happen. They see other people as abstractions, not people. With 300 million potential victims of terrorists, they figure the odds one will be themselves, or someone they love are low.
Nanker Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 B. O. doesn't care for America or Americans. He thinks we're too pampered and greedy wrt the rest of the world - especially the 3rd world countries and most especially to the Islam-dominated countries. He regularly wipes his azz with our Constitution, and loses no opportunity to pontificate and lecture about how bad America is in his eyes. He's a leader of worms.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Problem is, once they are here, how do we get rid of them?
Nanker Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Problem is, once they are here, how do we get rid of them? We'll have to BECOME them. That's the plan. Get used to it.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 We'll have to BECOME them. That's the plan. Get used to it. Hell with that. TO HELL WITH THAT.
FireChan Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Let's give some of the refugees jobs in the White House and Capitol building, and then see how quickly stances change.
Doc Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Let the refugees move next door to those who want them here. Then you'll see their tunes change.
B-Man Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 # of D.C. accepted refugees last month...ZERO Look, ISIS wants you to hate Muslims: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/11/17/isis-wants-you-to-hate-muslims/?tid=pm_business_pop_b … So...........According to WaPo, one snub and all Muslims will become barbaric terrorists. If that's not racism, nothing is.

Doc Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Get your own opinion. That's always been my opinion. I said the same about the illegals being shipped all over the country.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 One has to wonder...if one of these refugees ends up a terrorist, and said terrorist manages to incinerate the first family, would his mouthbreathing lordship change his accepting tune?
B-Man Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Pockets of Resistance to the Refugee Industry FTA: What’s driven much of this local resentment has not been security concerns so much as cost ones –concerns that apply to all refugees, not merely those from Syria or even the Islamic world generally. The paid agents of the State Department – the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (52 percent taxpayer-funded), Church World Service (57 percent taxpayer-funded), World Relief (70 percent taxpayer-funded), Lutheran Immigrant and Refugee Services (92 percent taxpayer-funded), and others – decide on their own, in secret, where they will send the refugees they’re paid to “sponsor,” whether the local schools and other institutions can handle them or not. I use scare quotes because sponsoring a refugee does not mean what you think it does – it consists of little more than signing the refugees up for welfare and then moving on to the next revenue-generating warm body (the agencies are paid by the head). For states and localities, refugee resettlement can be a huge unfunded mandate. This heavy use of state and local welfare and other services, combined with the imperious attitude of the State Department and its minions, has generated resistance across the country, from Idaho to South Carolina and many places in between. They’ve gotten nowhere in pointing to the law’s all-but-meaningless requirement for consultation with state and local governments. Tennessee even passed a law in 2011 to try to force the State Department to consult with local communities – to little effect. drinkTHEkoolaid Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Hell with that. TO HELL WITH THAT. Do you think they are going to come here and adopt our values? Hell no. They are going to demand we accomodate them and our PC politicians will all trip over each other to be the first in line to do so. If you have a problem, then your a racist. And on and on goes the narrative.
Tiberius Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 My response at the border entrance: "Go be a Terrorist somewhere else" They are escaping terrorism. That is totally blaming the victim
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 One has to wonder...if one of these refugees ends up a terrorist, and said terrorist manages to incinerate the first family, would his mouthbreathing lordship change his accepting tune? He would blame Bush. No seriously he would blame the conservatives for pushing them to violence and allowing them access to guns.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 They are escaping terrorism. That is totally blaming the victim why don't you host some of these 25 yr old male refugees in your parents basement. That's the compassionate thing to do.
