BillsFan-4-Ever Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Maybe it's not from sea to shining sea Maybe instead it's from C to shining C From Connecticut to California or this
Jobu Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 It is quite simple actually. If you are in America (and we are) the sun rises over the Atlantic ocean and sets over the Pacific. If you are singing the song in the morning, the shining sea is obviously the Atlantic. If you are singing the song in the afternoon, the shining sea would be the Pacific. Capiche?

ICanSleepWhenI'mDead Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Hey Pal: "This land is your land This land is my land From California to the New York island; From the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters This land was made for you and Me." Well if the song says that the same land belongs to everybody, I'm not sure that such socialist ideology has any place in the patriotic songs of a capitalist nation. The deeper I look, the more disturbing the submersive lyrics of our patriotic songs get.
BringBackFergy Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 So when the old fella yells "Hey punk...get off my lawn!!"...the teenager can basically flip him the bird and take a 5 iron to his fescue? What kind of world do we live in??
ICanSleepWhenI'mDead Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 According to our supposedly patriotic songs, I guess he should have yelled "Get off OUR lawn!!"
