He is literally living off the name of his father and brother. The NO D was 4th in both points and yards allowed in 2013, and the Raiders were 3rd in yards allowed in 2006. But yes, you're basically right -- most of his defenses have been bad. One possible mitigating factor with regard to the perception of him: he was LB coach under Belichick for the Pats from 2000-03, and those were good units. Maybe he goes back to that level.

Yea - his good years are the exception rather than the rule. It is odd though that his defenses seem to get worse the longer that he stays there.
