Nice to see improvement. Although, I think they missed a couple delay of game calls and Darby may have been a tad early on a breakup he had. But great not to see yellow every other play.

He was going in a straight line right to the ball. Perfectly legal play to get there a bit early, he had position and has a right to go for the ball just as much as the receiver.

You are right, but the Bills have not gotten that call on more than one occasion this year. It was nice to watch a game without a bunch of flags on close or meaningless plays. The bills did play more disciplined I thought, but it also seemed the officials were letting them play.

Lots of flags could've been thrown on both teams last night but the refs kept them in their pockets - which IMO is a good thing. The game has become too unwatchable this year with all of the yellow laundry.

Special teams :wallbash:

Colton Schmidt watching some Jets chick lift up her shirt?

I want to take the jerk who committed that penalty on that kick off return behind the shed! Going from near the 50 back to the 19 yard line

Carpenter made his three, but missed an extra point.

:worthy: But yea, the penalties were minimal, and didn't give those lousy Jets any first downs by penalty!!!!

agreed. They let them play physical for the most part. Critical division game is going to get chippy, let them play. Edited by YoloinOhio

Great point......it was also nice as players weren't calling for flags all the time with that stupid motion of lifting a flag out their pocket

The official in charge of spotting the ball must have been cross-eyed because he gave the Jets two gift third downs with insanely bad spots.

LOL or colorblind. Yeah, that was absurdly bad.

Referee tendencies matter
Finally, it was a surprise to see the Buffalo Bills escape Thursday night's game against the New York Jets with just five penalties. They entered the game with an NFL-leading average of 12.9 penalties per game, having registered in double digits in six games and never less than eight in any of them.
The total might make a bit more sense when you know that referee Brad Allen's crew entered the game with the league's third-lowest average of penalties called per game. Allen's average of 15 was 27.9 percent lower per game than the league leader at the time, Jerome Boger (20.8).

And shorted the Bills by about a yard and a half on the sideline late in the game. I've never seen multiple spots that bad before.

Yeah, but he wasn't going for the ball, he was going for the tackle. And he was a fraction early. It was really close. But this play wasn't like the Robey play vs Jacksonville, where Robey had position and beat him to the spot.
