The Mizzou/Yale/PC/Free Speech Topic

You haven't lived through enough of these things to realize the media will just let this wither away and wait for another moment to spring an unrelated "atrocity" that coincidentally gas the same remedies?

Sure I have. However, I believe that the institutional(bad word in this context), or foundational, problems have been exposed here. Because of this, I don't see how the media can do anything about that, one way or the other.

The public consciousness has been made aware of the large scope and magnitude of the problems. If 2016 goes the way it appears to be going == full R control of government, then, It's not hard to see Congress doing a complete overhaul of education in general, and a majority of the public supporting it, especially when the media tries to turn it into a "witch hunt"(or insert cliche here).

In fact, the media trying to prevent Congress from doing its job(oversight on the $ we spend), will spur even more public support.

I see this going down the same exact way Obamacare did: as of right now, support for single-payer/government health care is lower than it's been for 40-50 years. In doing what these single-payer activists did, they effectively killed any chance of there ever being nationalized health care in the USA, in our lifetimes. The same types are essentially following the same pattern with colleges.

How's the media doing with regard to its credibility on Obamacare right now? Is there ANYTHING they can do to repar that? No. Not ever.

As I and others have said, the backlash wave that is coming can't be stopped by the media. Nobody can stop it. My only concern, just like with Obamacare, is that we end up with something even worse, because it's based on backlashing, and not reason.

My main comfort is that Paul Ryan is Speaker, and not some weak-willed buffoon. Ryan has all the credibility on budgets and on spending, and there's nothing the media can do about that either. And, he also has the ability to ensure that we don't end up with something worse, in either area.

Ultimately, I wouldn't be suprised to find something like: "Federal funding is no longer available to the following majors(identity and gender studies at the top of the list), for which there is no clear career path. Forcing taxpayers to pay for something they won't benefit from is fraud. Offering students majors that lack academic rigor, and have no chance of landing them a job that allows to them to pay back their debt, and get a good start in life is also fraud." Don't argue with college professors about their bad behavior. Why argue with idiots? Take the $ away, and the college presidents/boards will make them go away.

Ryan could do that with ease, and it's a great political move, because what D wants to go on TV and be directly linked to supporting this fascism? Answer: only Pelosi, and the rest like her in the safest D bastions. Think about it: Pelosi arguing against it, and for fascism? That ensures passage. I can hear the babbling now.

Updates. Professor who threatened a student with violence on camera finally suspended.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/01/28/mizzou-suspends-professor-charged-with-assaulting-journalist-as-school-sinks-into-turmoil/

In the latest controversy to divide the community, Mizzou’s Board of Curators voted Wednesday to suspend Melissa Click, the assistant professor caught on camera pushing a student journalist and calling for “some muscle” to remove him from a protest camp.

“The Board of Curators directs the General Counsel, or outside counsel selected by General Counsel, to immediately conduct an investigation and collaborate with the city attorney and promptly report back to the Board so it may determine whether additional discipline is appropriate,” the board said in a statement.

How long did it take for the President to get forced out? 2 weeks? But this lady was chilling in her office for 3 months after this? They really do protect their own, huh?

Amherst College Drops ‘Lord Jeff’ as Mascot:

“The institution, which is one of the most diverse private colleges in the nation, was encouraged to cut its ties with Lord Jeff, who came to be seen as an inappropriate symbol and offensive to many members of the student body.”

Isn’t everything?

“Yes, it turns out that if you dare to question the premise of microaggressions, you will be called names and there will be shoving and punching.”

Punch back twice as hard, as a wise community organizer and Constitutional “scholar” once said.

And in response to all this, fraternity/sorority membership has been rising:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/03/09/a-decade-of-bad-media-attention-hasnt-hurt-fraternity-membership-numbers/

I'll direct your attention to the 2nd link's chart: hmmm....I wonder why the spiked increase began in 2008? What is so special about 2008? Could it be that the wingnnut college professors who attack white men and women daily, refuse to support due process on campus and cheer when their psychophant student star chamber courts, suspend/expel them...starting feeling "empowered" that year? Could it be, in response, that white males/females felt a need to join a group that by definition protects its members, rather than facing the wrath of the wingnuts alone? 2008. I wonder what happend that year? Notice also another spike in 2012. What a coincidence!

These college professor buffoons are getting exactly the opposite of what they intend. (If you want something done right....)

“PROGRESS”:

University of Connecticut building racially segregated dorm for black males............ Ah, sweet “progress.”

“Scholistic [sic] House Of Leaders who are African Amercian[sic] Researchers and Scholars.” ScHOLA²RS House will be among seven distinct communities at UConn’s $79 million, 210,000 square-foot NextGen Residence Hall,
.

It’s not clear if the words “Scholistic” and “Amercian” are purposefully misspelled for some reason.

In any case, the mission of the segregated dorm is “to groom, nurture, and train the next generation of leaders to address grand challenges in society through the promotion of academic success in undergraduate programs at the University of Connecticut and in competitive graduate programs.”

The concept, supporters of the neo-Jim Crow dorm say, is to increase college graduation rates for black males at UConn.

UConn education professor Erik Hines, the faculty director for the dorm, observed that black males at the school get diplomas at a rate of just 54 percent. The rate for all students on campus is 82.5 percent.

“It is a space for African American men to, one, come together, and validate their experiences that they may have on campus,” Hines
. “Number two, it’s also a space where they can have conversation and also talk with individuals who come from the same background who share the same experience.” . . .

About 40 black makes are expected to live in ScHOLA²RS House.

It is not clear what would happen if a male who is not black applied to live in the ScHOLA²RS House community.

Yeah, this sounds logical: We can increase the graduation rate of African-American men by giving them safe spaces where they can “validate their experiences” (translation: confirm their own racial biases) and talk “with individuals who come from the same background who share the same experience” (translation: confirm their own racial biases).

This predictably will exacerbate racial tension on UConn’s campus and further alienate these young men, many of whom are present on campus only due to very aggressive affirmative action programs.

Racial balkanization is a (progressive) recipe for disaster.

The way to get more black men to finish college is to segregate them? That's like putting a bunch of stoners in a basement together and expect them to discuss the dangers of weed.

Well at least those guys would come out of there immortal [/bobinmichigan]

I think a sociology course based on the history of food is a very cool idea. Why they would limit it to Mexico is beyond me.

When they showed the video of OBL after 911 they had plates of all sorts of food and I was thinking "what are they eating?"

Y'know...my college had a wine-tasting class. Great class, very popular. You had to pay an extra $120 to get in. It was taught by an astronomy professor who liked wine, and taught it every spring for a lark under the auspices of absolutely no department of the college, and you got no credit-hours for it. It was really just an excuse to hang out, drink wine, and say meaningless pompous **** ("It's a bold and cheeky chardonnay, but with a delicate floral aroma and subtle vanilla undertones.")

I really hope that U of KY class is the same thing.
