drinkTHEkoolaid Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 We could partner with 23 and Me so that everybody who sends in their DNA is given a certificate of their racial bloodline because #BloodLinesMatter. Everybody with the cert can load it onto their smart phone so that they know if anyone around them is oppressing them or if they have to make amends for their privilege. Oh my...
DC Tom Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 A tint measuring device that warns you if a person with less tint is invading your safe space would sell quickly on college campuses. No, no, no...you make the basic app free. You include a feature that reports an invasion of your safe space to the DoJ for $1 a report. And in the premium app, you include a feature that announces "Warning! You are encroaching on my safe space! Please cease, or be shamed!" any time someone gets within 5 feet of you.

Earning a place in our community of scholars is no small achievement and we are delighted that you selected Chicago to continue your intellectual journey. Once here you will discover that one of the University of Chicago’s defining characteristics is our commitment to freedom of inquiry and expression. … Members of our community are encouraged to speak, write, listen, challenge, and learn, without fear of censorship. Civility and mutual respect are vital to all of us, and freedom of expression does not mean the freedom to harass or threaten others. You will find that we expect members of our community to be engaged in rigorous debate, discussion, and even disagreement. At times this may challenge you and even cause discomfort. Our commitment to academic freedom means that we do not support so called ‘trigger warnings,’ we do not cancel invited speakers because their topics might prove controversial, and we do not condone the creation of intellectual ‘safe spaces’ where individuals can retreat from ideas and perspectives at odds with their own.
bbb Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I love this paragraph from that article: Similarly, many universities are creating “safe spaces” where students can relax free from ideas that might be stressful or anxiety-inducing. Among these is Brown University, which last year created a room “with cookies, coloring books, bubbles, Play-Doh, calming music, pillows, blankets and a video of frolicking puppies” because a debate on sexual assault was taking place on campus.

They really should have invented those 75 years ago so they could anchor them off the shores of Normandy and Iwo Jima, and maybe place a few along the Bataan Death March

That's not a "safe space," that's a goddamn preschool.
Doc Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 That's not a "safe space," that's a goddamn preschool. I think that's the point.
GaryPinC Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 That's not a "safe space," that's a goddamn preschool. I would like to think Brown was taking a subtle dig at "safe space" students with a preschool. I would put pacifiers out too.

Chef Jim Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 That's not a "safe space," that's a goddamn preschool. When I went to college is was a bong party.
unbillievable Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 National Parks are racist. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-revoyr-diversity-in-the-wilderness-20160828-snap-story.html Escaped slaves passed through forests full of danger, much of it posed by other people. Mexican and Japanese immigrants and African American sharecroppers worked to exhaustion in the fields. These brutal histories may help explain why some groups might not be drawn to the idea of spending time — let alone sleeping — outdoors.
Nanker Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 what can brown do for you? make ya a gal-danged wuss-kitty, that's what.

Blacks don't hike because of the racial memory of the Underground Railroad six generations ago? Who exactly is racist here?

Another article written about race solely for the sake of writing about race. Edited August 28, 2016 by keepthefaith
B-Man Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Clemson University Administrator Stops Man From Praying on Campus “This isn’t a free speech area.” (VIDEO) http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2016/08/clemson-university-administrator-stops-man-praying-campus-isnt-free-speech-area-video/ If you haven’t been following higher education news, you may not be aware that this sort of thing is happening on college campuses all over America. Schools are designating certain areas as “free speech zones” and in some cases even restricting those areas to certain times of day. Before you get too angry at the administrator in this video, remember that he wasn’t the one who created this policy, he’s just charged with the awful task of enforcing it. These ridiculous policies are created by higher level administrators in closed meetings.
