SO WHICH IS IT? I’ve asked this question of media law friends, and nobody wants to give a straight answer: “Is being called ‘racist’ defamatory“?

CNN tried (and failed) to convince the court that calling the Covington kid racist was “mere opinion.” (They ended up settling). At the same time, “RACIST!” is yelled often enough and with such vitriol, it must be defamatory. (It’s like cancer: There’s no “good” form of it).

Now a Cincinnati police officer is suing in libel for people who claimed his making an “OK” gesture was proof he is a racist because “That hand symbol has been associated with white power movements because it resembles the letters “W” and “P.”

FUN FACT: Once upon a time being called a “communist sympathizer” was defamatory under the law. Now it’ll get you elected to a mayor’s position. Or higher.

I’M SO OLD, I CAN REMEMBER WHEN GOODYEAR’S MAIN GOAL WAS TO SELL TIRES: Goodyear employee says new zero-tolerance policy is discriminatory.

A Goodyear employee says the company has put out a new policy that has some calling it not equal for all.

A photo seen circulating on social media shows a slide that was presented during a diversity training showing what’s acceptable and what isn’t acceptable as part of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company’s zero-tolerance policy.

Under acceptable: Black Lives Matter (BLM), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride.

Listed as unacceptable: Blue Lives Matter, All Lives Matter, MAGA Attire, Political Affiliated Slogans or Material.

Topeka, KS CBS-affiliate WIBW’s news department “has reached out to Goodyear about the slide.

The company has not responded to our requests for comment.”

So in the meantime, take the above photo for what it’s worth. But if it’s accurate, apparently, Goodyear believes police and Trump supporters no longer drive cars and trucks, based on the above graphic.

GREAT MOMENTS IN INTELLECTUAL DIVERSITY:

Iowa State English Professor To Class: If You Don’t Support BLM, Abortion, Etc., I’m Tossing You Out.

As Glenn has noted, “When taxpayers tire of funding of this sort of thing, we’ll be told it’s because of anti-intellectualism.

But maybe it’s just that there’s not much actual intellectualism going on in higher education anymore.”

So I’m leaving a fortune 100 company that I’ve worked 22 years for, partially because of this situation. They’ve announced targets for demographic makeup for the leadership levels I work in. Right, wrong, indifferent it makes any upward mobility for myself that much more difficult. Layered on top is the push to become an “ally” at risk of being a non-contributor. Fortunately my background is in demand and I’m making the change that my former lead did last year to private ownership.

Sorry to hear that situation exists, but with luck, the current company rides this wave right into obscurity and you’re around to pick up the pieces.

I don't know where to put this but this story is insane to me

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29695685/two-women-say-former-washington-running-back-derrius-guice-raped-lsu-2016

Two girls claim they were raped by Guice and told as many people who would listen except the police. If a crime occurs you go to the police, not the school. I am curious what thought process occurs that you think a school is the best place to handle a rape?

Parents have lost control of their children's education

by Everett Piper

Original Article

Ever wonder how we got to this point? How did a nation that defined itself with the superlatives, “land of the free and the home of the brave,” “America the Beautiful“ and “one nation under God” turn into a broken culture with no boundaries, no borders, no law, no order and no soul so fast? How did we lurch from being the United States into a divided people so quickly? Where did this all come from: the vitriol and vice, the anger and hatred, the looting, the riots, the destruction, the nihilistic confusion, the science-denying gender-bending sexuality, the suicidal infatuation with socialism,

why not start with the radicalized liberalism espoused on college campuses.....think today's societal mess could be the result?...naw no way......this day and age mostly requires two income families to afford niceties.....have often wondered about teens coming home from school to an empty household and the negative potential.....does parents rewarding them financially to "be good" work or is it a ruse?.......yesteryear versus today are MAJOR societal differences for whatever reason you choose...............

TEACHING THEM EARLY THAT IT’S BEST TO LIE TO POLLSTERS:

Northeastern U. threatens students who said ‘yes’ to poll asking if they would attend parties.

“The Wall Street Journal reports the pollster, when asked by Northeastern officials, gave up the names of all who answered in the affirmative. The pollster refused to speak to The HN, indicating he/she did not ‘want this to drag on longer.'”

I wonder if that poll asked if they were planning to join protests.

This letter has decidedly bullying tone to it. As for the poll question, what a deceitful and manipulative way to inquire.
