With all the talk of these sites (Yes the commercials are annoying) what is your take on these sites?

Please ban them, if only so I never have to see or hear another Draft Kings or FanDuel commercial!

On the way to the opener from Vermont we listened to Sirius NFL, then to GR55, I must have heard about 50,000 ads for those two companies. Then when I walked into the Ralph to be greeted by another 1,0000 FanDuel signs I REALLY thought my head was going to explode...

But anyway, have you guys heard about these one week fantasy leagues where you can earn real cash??

if anything i hope this eventually means less commercials especially for Fanduel which seem to multiply the more they air

I joined FanDuel. I put in $25 and have had a blast picking my team for the past 8 weeks. I bet $2 on the big competition each week. Just won $12.50 this past week because I came in 20,976 or something like that. FanDuel and DraftKings will be challenging the AG's Cease and Desist order in the next five days so I put my team in last night. Unlike Online Poker (where the cards are selected randomly), this actually takes some thought when you have a salary cap, choosing matchups, etc. It has me watching a lot more football and knowing a lot more players. I imagine this whole thing involves the NY AG trying to grab headlines and gain support...but I think it will backfire because NY is probably one of the biggest sport fan states by population. He may get a rude awakening when the voters turn out.

I still have nightmares with that annoying announcer's voice saying "Faaaaaan....10. Once again the codeword is FAAAAAAN....10."

Or whatever.

Radio ads are generally annoying as all hell, but those Fanduel ads are among the worst of all time.

And that includes VW of Orchard Park's "German Comforteering" campaign that made me want to go strangle kittens.

Everyone talks about the commercials....I listen to WGR every morning on my phone and the Flo from progressive ones are really starting to send me over the edge (especially the 1920's gangster one....like styrofoam to my ears)

Those are also some of the most annoying.

Whenever possible I hit the mute button on the laptop (where I listen mostly) and that helps a lot.

LOL, those commercials usually come on right when I have a handful of shaving cream and my hands are wet.

I think their legality should be in line with any other gambling. If gambling is legal, then fantasy sports with money on the line should be legal. If gambling is illegal, then fantasy sports with money on the line should be illegal.

The hypocrisy is what kills me. NYS is saying it's gambling and gambling is illegal. Oh really? Then what's with the NY lottery and the dumb scratch off tickets I get from relatives on my birthday? How about OTB and casinos? Makes no sense. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. They must think we are pretty stupid

It takes thought, but it certainly does not take skill IMO.

Watching more football to become more informed is no different than going to the track to watch your favorite horse breeze before the big race.

With that said, gambling on the ponies is legit, so why isn't Fan Duel?

Yes it should be legal, but it shouldn't be considered legal under the current laws. The distinction between the way they have treated fantasy sports vs online poker is absurd.

There's a lot of influential money behind these companies so I don't expect anything to happen at the federal level, but the state level fights will be interesting. Bold move by NYS.

Also, how is it not a conflict of interest for the NFL and owners like Jerry Jones to have ties to these fantasy sites (which are let's face it gambling on their sport)? That's just as dumb as NY's argument

This is where I disagree. It is 10% thought and 90% luck.

If I choose Blake Bortles and he throws 2 TDs against the Rams

You chose Aaron Rodgers and he gets hurt.

You were just unlucky there even though we both put thought into it.
