26CornerBlitz Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 @NBCSports QBR ranks Ryan Fitzpatrick ahead of Tom Brady. #Patriots #Jets http://tw.nbcsports.com/2sS In 2011, when ESPN introduced its new statistic Total Quarterback Rating, it was declared the “one stat that measures the totality of a quarterback’s performance.” In 2015, that one stat says Ryan Fitzpatrick is better than Tom Brady: ESPN’s QBR rankings for this season have Fitzpatrick third in the NFL with a Total QBR of 76.7. Brady is fifth, with a Total QBR of 73.9.

BuffaloHokie13 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Tyrod is 6th, 1 spot behind Brady. But really, I think it weighs running stats a bit too heavily.
Dorkington Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 It's one of many measurements, no one measurement or algorithm should be taken as the end all be all.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) That's impossible tommy is averaging over 8 ypa, 22 TDs to 2 ints, 68%, to fritz 7 ypa, 61% and 13tds to 7 ints. How can any algorithm that incorporates these numbers in any way possibly result in a better rating for Harvard boy? Seems like the std passer rating still makes a lot more sense. MDH Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 The only thing I have to add to this is: F Tom Brady.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 guess we better trade for Brady while his rating is down Russell Wilson is below average, so he's probably cheap.
Luxy312 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I'll take the old "eye test" any day over this metric. It's not even worth trying to explain what's wrong with it. Kind of like Bruce Jenner / Caitlyn Jenner / whatever you want to call him / her / it.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) On second thought the most likely scenario is fitz hacked into ESPN servers and tweaked the equation with a douche-factor... That is a much more likely scenario than Ryan Fitzpatrick is outperforming tom Brady this season Edited November 10, 2015 by over 20 years of fanhood
prissythecat Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 It was an algorithm which was backwards developed from the desired result of making Tim Tebow look like a quality quarterback. Tebow has the highest 4th QTR QBR ever though. So it must mean something
Fadingpain Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 Tebow has the highest 4th QTR QBR ever though. So it must mean something It means he sucked for most of the time in his games to put his team in a deep hole.
Jobot Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Yep... notice how ESPN is the only network that even mentions this joke of a statistic?
TakeYouToTasker Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Yep... notice how ESPN is the only network that even mentions this joke of a statistic? That's because they developed it. It's their property.
Protocal69 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) Did ya'll notice when Aaron Rodgers thew for 77 yards in week 8 he had a higher QBR 64.6 than Tom Brady for that same week (60.7) who thew for 356 yards and 4 TD and 0 Ints So yes QBR does suck!!!!! Miyagi-Do Karate Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Fitz went to Harvard, or so I heard. He has figured out how to beat the stats.
