FireChan Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 And yet... And yet what? No has been anointed anything, what are you talking about?
PromoTheRobot Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 No. Not at all. But it's a better chance than a #6 pick.First you argue it doesn't, then you say it does.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 So pedigree does trump performance. You are the only one saying or implying it has to be one or the other. It's both. And other stuff, too. But if guys are playing equally, and one of them has a better pedigree, why would you think the lesser pedigree guy is going to be the one to get better and the higher pedigree guy would be the one to fall off?
Meatplow Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Bills fans couldn't have asked for more. The Guy has flat out balled for the team all year. When you consider what the QB situation was a few months back, I'm ecstatic! AMEN!
John from Riverside Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Why do you think people hedge their opinions of TT? Because no one wants to believe he's as good as he is playing. Because no one wants to believe a QB out of nowhere can be that good, even if he is. Its the beaten dog syndrom....people dont want to get their hopes up
Dan Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 So pedigree does trump performance.Yes it does, given the small sample size. A number 1 pick that has 6 good games is just continuing what he's done to warrant his high draft position. A guy like Tyrod, essentially coming out of no where, has to prove he can do it consistently for a significant stretch before you consider him the guy. There have been too many players that have a couple of good games in an otherwise below average career to expect anything else.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 First you argue it doesn't, then you say it does. All things equal, the better pedigree is more likely to be better if they get off to similarly good starts. You just ignored the Watkins/Hogan analogy. You started this saying that TT should be getting franchise QB status by his hot start but because he is not a pedigree player he is not. Everyone else seems to be saying it's not enough time yet to give him that status. You then said, well if Winston or a pedigree player got that same start people would be saying he was a franchise QB. And I then said the pedigree player, if he got off to the same start as the non-pedigree, would have a better chance of keeping it up. Who wouldn't say that?

hondo in seattle Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) TT is now fourth in the league in passing, behind Brady, Dalton and Carson Palmer, and just ahead of Aaron Rodgers. His rating is 108.9. Brady leads the league with 113.5. He's thrown 10 TDs to 4 INTS, which is good. His YPC is an excellent 8.6 which is tied for second in the league and a little better than Brady. He is basically leading the league in completion percentage with 71.8 (if you count an arbitrary over 100 completions, Wheedon has less but a little higher percentage but he's only played 2-3 games). This is, of course, not counting the running, which is one of his best assets. He's also 4-2 as a starter. Sure he is not a franchise QB yet, and we don't know if this will continue. But it's rather freaking remarkable at this stage of the season. And you can't say he's a fluke because he's consistently thrown an extremely accurate long ball and all passes for the most part. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?akmobile=ios-tablet&akmobile=ios-tablet&akmobile=ios-tablet&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&akcarrier=other&akcarrier=other&akcarrier=other&d-447263-p=1&statisticCategory=PASSING&d-447263-s=PASSING_COMPLETION_PERCENTAGE I agree with all of this including the caveat: "we don't know if this will continue..." Didn't Bledsoe once start off with an impressive first half of the season only to fade? I'd like a bigger sample size before I crowned TT as the franchise QB we've all been waiting for. Nonetheless, he's been fun to watch so far! Edited November 9, 2015 by hondo in seattle
Billsfansince90 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Statistics aside, you just get the feel that he's a winner right? He's got a fox-like energy and a tremendous feel for the game that can't be coached. The great part is he's not damaged goods, or raw like E.J. He is essentially at the beginning of his active learning curve and has a Leo's natural leadership ability without forcing it. He's also able to take chances but makes few mistakes (I think 3/4ths of his picks are on tips). An awful lot to like about him at this point Keep it up T-Mobile!
moshermw Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Some un-truths in this thread but excusable. TTis not an unknown out of nowhere - he was an overlooked superstar from VT that the Ravens coached up. He was labelled by the media and even showed up on the NFL Network as a WR during the draft. Crazy. His speed and athleticism actually hurt him in an era when QB's can only be 6'3 or taller. This as Brees was lighting the nFL up. The Bills already owe - and will a bunch more before it's all gone - to three big things: 1. Flacco's durability and Super Bowl MVP 2. NFL Fvcks that pidgeon-holed TT as a WR first cuz of his athleticism 3. The Bills front office that missed on him in 2011 - cuz that staff and front office would have ruined TT as a rookie.. 3a. Perfect staff, surrounding talent, and ownership for this diamond in the rough. For once, Jupiter aligns with Mars. TT is THE man. He's 4-2 with one loss against a juggernaut 8-0 Patriot team. iNot bad for a dude most Bills had never heard of before Jan 2015.

His agent during the draft special identified Buffalo as a strong possibility. Then Buffalo drafted Johhny White, RB in the 5th round!

Then Buffalo drafted Johhny White, RB in the 5th round! Yes. Correct. And we are now blessed by the Johnny White pick. Gailey last year and Marrone first year would have been disasterous for young TT. Roman and Rex are now capitalizing on the 4 years the Ravens spent showing him how to be ready to start an NFL game 64 times - plus playoff games and a Super Bowl. Bills are lucky - even as stoked as we all were for Jim Kelly to start a Super Bowl - and he did very well - it was his first prep. Wont be WHEN TT does it. Might not be 2015 season but will be in 2016. Felt it today fo sho.

In Baltimore, Tyrod learned from Flacco and watched a team work its way to the Superbowl. He is using that experience to get his teammates to buy into what it actually takes to be a winner.
Boolay Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Love TT thus far. His threat to run freezes the defense which is why he is so good throwing on the move. Having said that I still need to see him perform at this level AFTER we pay him the big bucks. We do not have a great record with guys we extend in season.

Fixxxer Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 So far so good, his next game will be his 7th start of his career, hopefully he can still show progress and improvements in his game. I would wait on giving him the money like we did with Fitz.
Wayne Cubed Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 ...and the other loss without Watkins and McCoy. ...and was pretty close to mounting comeback wins in both.
BuffaloHokie13 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 ...and the other loss without Watkins and McCoy. ...and was pretty close to mounting comeback wins in both. Let's not forget that was also the game where we lost by 14 points and had 2 TD's taken off the board
