The term cheese food is lame. We know it's food for crying out loud. It's redundant.

If the Roll is split then it's only 1 piece of bread so it can't be a sandwich...what am I doing with my life...SMH

John Murphy asked Rex that question on his TV show a few weeks back. Rex's answer fwiw : nah, a hotdog is kind of it's own thing. It's not a sandwich.

Yeah sure. I'll take my culinary advice from Rex.

A sandwich is one or more food items placed between two pieces of bread.

Ergo, a hot dog is not a sandwich, since it is placed in a split roll.

But so's a hoagie, and I'd qualify it as a sandwich.

Sadwhiches come on loaves of bread. That is the defining feature. Hot dogs are on little buns. Long buns, but buns.

Hmmmm. I've known some sad witches in my day. But that's a story for another thread.

can't just go making up rules willy nilly...sometimes I use 2 chunks of the bread as a vehicle for the meaty filling...

Not a sandwich when the bread is nothing but a serving bowl

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich is generally only split.

I say yes. Meat and assorted toppings between bread. If a sub is a sandwich then a hot dog is a sandwich.

Who says a sub is a sandwich?

I've never heard of a cheese steak being called a cheese steak sandwich.

Hoagie, Sub, Grinder.....Whatever. It's still a sandwich regardless of the semantics.
