Jerry Jabber Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 This is just a hypothetical question. If Rex Ryan were to get fired at some point, would you want Wade Phillips back as the Bills HC?
filthymcnasty08 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Last coach to take us to the playoffs! Underappreciated when here too...we were spoiled then. Question is: does wade even want to be a hc again?
Heitz Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Would he, or would he not be wearing headphones on the sideline?

BuffalothruMyVeins Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I would love him back as a DC, as I think he is fantastic and his stats still prove he is a top DC in the game, but he has never been very successful as the head guy.

Question is: does wade even want to be a hc again? Line by line, these are my thoughts. I can't remember the exact quote, but he said his dad, Bum, once gave him some advice that went something like this, "There's only one thing certain in coaching: you're going to get fired." I would love him back as a DC, as I think he is fantastic and his stats still prove he is a top DC in the game, but he has never been very successful as the head guy. 82-64 as a HC. Went to the playoffs 6 out of the 8 full seasons he was a head coach. Took three different teams to the playoffs. His HC record is actually pretty impressive except for his record in the playoffs: 1-5. But at this point, I'd be thrilled with a Wild Card round loss. Edited November 3, 2015 by hondo in seattle
Best Player Available Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 he still owns a house in Hamburg. he's half way home

Make that a double for me.
Nihilarian Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I don't know that Wade Phillips would be a fit with the current defensive roster even as DC, and we know he doesn't have a clue about the offense. I think the Bills should reach higher should they want to change the HC. Bill Cowher would be my choice.
Augie Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Wade over Rex? Yes! Wade over the field? I don't know. But today he feels like a big step up.
Beerball Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 They'd also need to sign a punt catcher, but, at least they wouldn't have to worry about someone taking the sail out of their wind. (I vote no)
The Frankish Reich Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Right after Kay Stephenson. He's still alive, right?
Buffalo Barbarian Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Wade just isn't a HC (probably like our HC) but as a DC heck yeah!! Probably take Bruce Arians for HC
GunnerBill Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) Probably take Bruce Arians for HC In what world is Bruce Arians available and wanting to come to Buffalo? How often do serving Head Coaches move to another team without being fired? It is almost never. If we move on from Rex we will need to find either an assistant coach from elsewhere or a Head Coach out of college. *or one of the big name, talking head, ex coaches on the TV. Pine Barrens Mafia Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Annnnnd there it is. It's the cirrrrcle of liiiiife
machine gun kelly Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 It was a big mistake to dump Wade 15 years ago. Just look at the results, He is a great DC. He lets his guys play and keeps it simple with great athletes. That is Rex's problem is he out thinks himself. I'm praying he understands his mistakes, and let's his guys get out there and go after it.
filthymcnasty08 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Wade had a fierce sweatshirt/sweater game too!
