KD in CA Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Welcome to Two Bills Drive Warning: May Contain Bills Fans
Jobu Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I thought edamame was a soy bean? It is a young soybean. I would assume it comes down to labeling regulations. Soy is a declarable allergen. Since the name of the product does not contain soy, and soy is not listed on the label, it is considered adulterated.

I'm making the same face as your avatar right now but I guess I get what you're saying. People don't know that edamame is a soy bean so it needs to be declared as containing soy...but I would hope that someone who is allergic to soy would know that.
DC Tom Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 It is a young soybean. I would assume it comes down to labeling regulations. Precisely. I'm making the same face as your avatar right now but I guess I get what you're saying. People don't know that edamame is a soy bean so it needs to be declared as containing soy...but I would hope that someone who is allergic to soy would know that. And peanut butter carries a "contains peanuts" warning. And Pop Tarts have a "Caution: pastries may be hot when heated" warning. You're assuming common sense has any relation to this.
