Gugny
Playing well on this year's Cowboys is a little easier than playing well on this year's Bills. And it has nothing to do with Doug Whaley.
Johnny Hammersticks
For better or worse, the NFL is all about the QB position. Tyrod Taylor? How about missing our starting QB, our top 2 WR's, our 2nd RB, and our starting right side of our offensive line? Yeah, let's fire Whaley for EJ sucking. Good take. dave mcbride
Because it's a really stupid way to judge a trade. Explain.
papazoid
EJ SUCKS !! Â whaley only keeps his job if the bills make the playoffs.
Nihilarian
The Cowboys are a much better fit for Cassel then he would be in Buffalo with the current offensive line, and their injuries. Â Cassel still sucks, and I doubt he plays any better in Buffalo then EJ did.

FireChan
I know it's a far fetched cynical thought, but I can't explain a rationale why Tyrod is inactive and not an emergency third QB. Â Taylor would try to play all game maybe?
stinky finger
Cassel not being here isn't the issue. Â EJ being here is the issue.

He plays the position in an "injury-prone" style. You have to assume that your backup is going to play some. Why do you get rid of a vet backup? Most evaluators seem to think that Manuel is terrible, and now we see why. Edited October 25, 2015 by dave mcbride

Gugny
This team sucks because Rex Ryan doesn't know how to use the defense that Whaley built. EJ sucking doesn't help, but if this defense played like it did last year, it wouldn't matter nearly as much. Â This team sucking is squarely on Rex Ryan. dave mcbride
This ^^ Dallas has a good oline Cassel isn't great and has real flaws, but he's reasonably accurate and can go through progressions.

Preseason doesn't mean much, and I don't put much stock in it. After all, Rob Johnson was one of the greatest Bills' preseason performers in team history. Acantha
Cassel isn't the answer. Buffalo has had a black whole at QB for over a decades, and now they finally have some hope and everyone wants to complain about the backup! Â Whaley has done an outstanding job of building this team, and he's still young in his tenure. Losing him would be a disaster for the Bills, and anyone who thinks otherwise is just out of touch with reality.

dave mcbride
Bingo No, it's not 20/20 hindsight because I thought the trade was bad from the moment it occurred.
