Bernard 23 yd swing pass set up by Eifert inside route that was a natural pick. LB Brown had to fight through traffic. ard 17 yd TD Dalton recognized the defensive front and adjusted to a play that allowed everyone to block down. Easy TD #Bengals employed multiple snaps 22 (2 RB, 2 TE) or 13 (1 RB, 3 TE) on early downs to start drives, often ran out of it. #Bills secondary sturdy in first half, #Bengals WRs were not a factor. Jones 42 yds was outstanding Quarters coverage by #Bills, with multiple exchanges post-snap..... cont....Dalton with overload blitz coming heaved a perfect ball that Jones tracked well. Jones 10 yd TD WR screen out of empty, with 1 RB and 2 TE left and 2 WR right...... cont....Unbalanced look made Gilmore uncertain of man assignment until last second, play attacked him. Dalton played with fantastic recognition, presnap and postsnap. A big factor in the game. : #Bengals a lot of formation variation, gave #Bills trouble at times and made them more reactive. #Bengals did a lot with condensed formations in this game, with WR's aligned tight, not wide. This is a lot of what happened against NE and is a problem for us. when teams have weapons like that - both from a talent standpoint and experience in the system - it allows them to do so much Eifert 4-yd TD he shifted wide to iso WR, back-shoulder type play vs. Rambo. Teams do it because our boundary corners are very, very good, and they want their playmakers to have a chance against our interior guys. Tight alignments with route concepts that break outward allow the offense to dictate boundary match-ups, as you won't see Gilmore/Darby exchange post-snap with a LB or safety Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

LB Maualuga didnt get there, Kirkpatrick miss tackle Incognito excellent block on Peko (help from Wood late) on McCoy 5-yd TD. Bengals played 2-shell concepts, even with backup QB in. Dennard INT very well done. Cover 3 concept with him carrying slot WR Hogan down seam. Good technique and play on ball. Manuel struggled throwing at intermediate levels. Footwork compromised accuracy and velocity at times. Dunlap too many ineffective pass rushes vs. RT Henderson and RT Kouandjio two players he should be able to produce against. entire #Bengals four-man rush was lethargic, #Bills OL created consistently clean pockets. #Bills a lot of iso route but they presented simple progression reads for Manuel. Shallow or short-intermediate hitches, hooks, curls. Watkins 22-yd TD was bad play by Manuel with good results.... cont...He fled and made sandlot throw late in down after leaving Clay corner route and Hogan flat route open to that same side. McCoy 3-yd run outstanding cutback, had chance to be big play but S Nelson in box made good shoestring tackle. Bills good use of spread formations to widen #Bengals zones. Adam Jones near INT on Cover 2 trap that Manuel completely fell for. Bengals did not blitz and rarely employed double-A-gap looks. Wanted to make Manuel sort through bodies in coverage. LT Glenn and LG Incognito were outstanding in pass pro. #Bengals in second half sprinkled in more 3-over, 4-under zone. Good response to all the underneath throws from Manuel. #Bengals did SOME stunts and twists, just not a lot. BackInDaDay Posted October 23, 2015 Share Posted October 23, 2015 Jones 42 yds was outstanding Quarters coverage by #Bills, with multiple exchanges post-snap..... it was cover 4, but it wasn't well executed. we were in a 3-3-5, with Hughes playing out of a 3 point stance - so really, a 4-2-5. we blitzed Brown and Graham, while Dalton kept Bernard in for pass-protect. So, we were rushing 6 against 6. we had 5 men in coverage to their 4 in routes. the play was designed to force Bradham to trail AJ Green on a drag across the middle - from our left to right - but with both Brown and Graham blitzing the B gap on our right side, Dalton thought better than waiting for that to develop, and threw a strike to Jones running inside Gilmore with no immediate safety help. Yes, Duke got there eventually, but Jones had already split him and Gilmore. besides giving them that deep play, Bradham got away making their play design more effective when he chased the H-back through his clearing route from right to left (opposite Green's cross). doing that forced Darby to get a late start trailing Green. If Dalton knew that his RB was gonna take out both our blitzers, he might have waited for Green, who had 6 yards on Darby... but with his timer going off because of our blitz, and the sight of Jones running with good inside position on Gilmore - all he had to do was not underthrow it. Robey was the nickel next to Gilmore, but he was trailing the clearing route of the TE on our right- like the H-back, he was heading right to left. better communication may have let Robey help Gilmore cut off Jones, by passing his TE off to Duke... and if Bradham passed his H-back off to Darby, and chomped on Green's route.. and if either Brown or Graham stays on their feet... Dalton may have had to pull it down and take the sack. it starts with Gilmore's inconsistencies. he was 10 yards off Jones, and before he had a chance to run with him on his go route, he spun completely around to his right when Jones went inside to his left. for a split second he actually had his back to Jones. the more i see of this defense, the more i'm reminded of Ryan's comments in pre-season about having to get his coverage men talking to each other. this was not an exotic defense. we had Mario, Bryant, Kyle, and Hughes with their hands in the dirt, and tried to flood them with two more..no down linemen dropped into coverage.. we simply made mistakes, while the offense executed. btw - i tried to upload a screen shot to illustrate what i've described, but i can't get it done.
