Or Pegula, the one guy who has the power to tell Rex to change things back.Maybe they will use the bye to run refresher training on a D scheme change back to the old system.

Makes sense, no?

maybe, or it would look like a Jerry Jones/Dan Snyder move? Does Pegula really have that deep of understanding defensive schemes?

You pay a guy 5 mil a year to know these things. Can he sit with Rex and understand whatever it is Rex is trying? OTOH hopefully someone says something. Because it's broken.

That's how I feel as well. Nothing good can come from and owner telling a coach how to do his job (and this is coming from a guy who can't shut up about how pissed I am at the schemes this staff has been using).

They should of course be talking and raising concerns for how things are going, but actually telling him what to do is overboard.

That's what I'm hoping.

your hoping that we are dysfunctional enough that our owner starts dictating scheme and playcalling to our coach? cool.

No...I'm hoping Rex makes changes to the defense during the bye week.

No one is saying for Pegula to be a dictator. Let the singers sing and the dancers dance.

However, Pegula has the voice none of us here has to sit down with Rex and have a productive conversation about how things look like crap, they looked better last year, the scheme doesn't make a lot of sense, and he would like to discuss the possibility of amending what we are doing mid-season...

Surely that is reasonable. Nothing in the world is black and white.

Pegula can be a productive, interested owner and not an evil controlling despot while still getting Rex to maybe change some of what he is doing.

At least let's hope so.

I think he will; this is still emerging as the central theme with the team right now, but I think change is on the way.

Or at least amendment.

I think it's time for the franchise to turn the page on the golden oldies who lost four straight super bowls 25 years ago. So I think it's time for fans to stop glomming on to everything Jimbo says.

I know that's an unpopular opinion, but it has to happen at some point. And each year that falls off the calendar puts us further and further away from when they were...actually...relevant.

That's why they hung a bunch of generic Bills banners in the field house. To cover up the banners from our history and encourage this group to make their own history.

Well, Rex does seem to care about Jim and his opinions. So maybe this will be the flip of the switch that gets him to consider some adjustments.

He's already considering them. On his radio show , John Murphy said he spoke with Rex on Saturday before Bengals game. He told Murphy that his plan was going to be to play coverages vs Dalton and Bengals, he felt that was the best approach. JM wasn't sure he agreed with that. Well, it failed ( again). After the game , JM said Rex told him it was time to reevaluate some things on D and make some changes. So it doesn't seem this is lost on Ryan. He knows that strategy failed twice vs two of the top performing QBs in the league. I believe we will see a major simplification of the D to cut down on communication errors and generate consistent pressure. You just aren't going to confuse the veteran QBs. It's best to disrupt timing with pressure.

So Kelly's observations and comments are incorrect? I for one agree with them all. Actually the beer boy in the stands could make the same comments, but they won't carry as much weight. The fact that they lost 4 superbowls 25 years ago is irrelevant. The Rex defense sucks. Kelly's voice still carry's some relevance. otherwise he would not have been on the team plane to London.

I provide zero critique of what he said.

I thought I was pretty clear about that: it's time.

Seems as if Rex wanted to put his own stamp on this defense to try and prove something; however, this has just turned into the example of why you shouldn't try and fix something that wasn't broken. Even with injuries and some questionable play calling on offense, it has at least improved. The defense is just downright frustrating to watch knowing how good they really were. Really makes me wonder what this offense would look like with Schwartz's D and the current O

This is all about Rex's ego. That's his stamp. He has this, "there's a new sheriff in town, and he's me" attitude. Thus all the blustering & big promises before the season, and the insistence that it's the player's fault. Never mind that the D was dominant last year, I have a better way. Really Rex? How's that working through 6 games?

Well, that's encouraging to hear.
