YoloinOhio Posted October 16, 2015 Share Posted October 16, 2015 Only game I've seen of his was Jags vs Colts. he was terrible when it counted. Couldn't hit open guys, rattled under pressure. He may be better than last year, but his stats may be a bit inflated due to his defense forcing him to pass the whole game. But I really like 2 of his WRs and Julius Thomas is back. Turnovers are down, but completion % is under 58% and YPA under 7. He is hardly ready for Canton, but does look improved, although that's not saying much since he was flat out horrible last year. (2013-2015) Two 2014 2nd round picks in Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson, the latter of whom is playing exceptionally well. Allen Hurns is also productive, a UDFA. And sure, so far the Julius Thomas UFA signing hasn't been great. Meanwhile, the Bills have invested 2 1sts (Watkins), a 2nd (Woods), and a 3rd (Goodwin). Not to mention signing UFAs Harvin and Clay. Because it sure looks like the Jags have a better prospect at QB for the future than Buffalo does. And Caldwell didn't need to spend huge resources on receiving options to support the QB. As for present regime, Nix and Whaley are inexorably linked. Not deciding to take a QB in 2011-12 and perhaps 2014 is why the team is signing low to medium cost options in free agency. The Jags are the second youngest team in the league.....same as last year.......if the Bills had such a very young team last year they would have stuck with EJ knowing that their youth would be a limiting factor either way. The Bills roster(10th) is comparable in age to NE(11th) and Seattle(12th). In fact, the Seattle roster was actually YOUNGER than the Bills last year(7th versus 10th). Even at 10th I think that number is misleadingly low because the Bills have a lot of key vets starting. The timing wasn't right to sacrifice a season when EJ was getting lost. I think sitting did EJ a lot of good. Didn't seem to hurt Tyrod sitting for 4 years. And EJ had just cost them a game and had 2 costly bad games in a row. Had Orton been the starting QB from the outset they likely make the playoffs. Had EJ played thru they probably win only 6-7 games. The team and the coach weren't in a good place to sacrifice a season to develop a QB. 9-7 isn't great but it's a winning season and created some momentum going into the offseason.....momentum that likely helped land Rex and a bunch of key players.
