They did really well with timing their break on the ball today.

They were much more in sync but part of that is playing a rookie versus playing a seasoned QB who they have to fear throwing deep.

I'd like to see them press more rather than trying to stop every drive 1 yard short of a first down.

Gilmore played an excellent game but the Green Beckham pass interference play......it didn't make sense not hitting him at the LOS and then trying to grab him 5 yards downfield.

We have some of the best CB in the league but we consistently play them 10 yards off. Why? That's why teams are dink and dunking us to death.

I know there is no correlation between the number of posts and football knowledge, but you have 29,661 posts and you still need to ask why CB's will sometimes play off the recievers?

Not sometimes, consistently. Especially on 3rd and long.

On 3rd and long, why wouldn't you line up a little back? It's likely the CBs are isolated on their receiver and are just trying to keep them from getting the first down. Keep everything in front of you.

If its third and ten, why line up 15 yards off rather than say 6 or 7?

Tennessee was 5 of 13 on 3rd downs, scored 13 points and had under 300 yards and we are complaining about the D being too soft?

They are blitzing to force the ball out quick and then using their secondary to come up and make the tackles before the first down a lot of times. Sometimes if the blitz doesn't get there they might give up 12 yards on a 3rd and 10 for a first down, but its better than giving up 60 yards for a TD like they used to under Pettine when the corners played up...

that's the gist of it...you might get a first down here and there on 3rd down, but you aren't getting the big play to score or flip the field...

you do know that our players can move after the snap? Do you remember the play Graham made on a 3rd down stop, he lined up behind the first down marker but he ran up and stopped the receiver before he reached the line to gain.
