Tyrod's runs should be happening more because of design and less because of improvisation. That's no knock against his improvised scrambles, but the coaching staff baffles me by not calling more designed QB sweeps.

 

The QB counter sweep that Mariota ran today for 30+ yards is something you see Seattle run almost every single game. It is a very high percentage play, and ought to be used like a screen — we should be seeing it at least once a game, especially in big third down situations.

 

I'd much rather see called QB counter sweep type plays than any more of these mickey mouse reverse plays. Don't outthink yourself, Greg Roman.
