26CornerBlitz Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 The NFL's QB Quandary: Dread the College Spread?Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick took the NFL by storm ... then fell apart. Is this a harbinger of doom for Marcus Mariota? Albert Breer studies this issue -- and so much more -- in his notebook
BuffaloBill Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 It's an age old story, teams have to rush players into the position. The salary system helps because these unproven guys are not breaking the bank as they used to.
K-9 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I like Mora's take. If a guy possesses the mechanical and mental capability, he can make the jump to the next level, regardless of the system he played in college. As Rex Ryan and others have alluded to, it's not the lack of playing in a pro-style offense that ill prepares these guys, it's the nature of the types of defenses they see game in and game out. When they see quarters zone defenses 90% of the time, they aren't learning to read safeties, etc. And college rush schemes are just as vanilla as their coverage schemes. That's why I think Tyrod Taylor will arrive far sooner than later. Fours years of being in film rooms breaking down defenses and designing specific game plans based on that breakdown have given him an advantage these other guys haven't benefited from. GO BILLS!!!
Buffalo Barbarian Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 The NFL's QB Quandary: Dread the College Spread? hard to say as everyone is different, but Spread QBs have a real hard time making it in the pros. That's why I like Cook, on top of having the Talent and Moxie he has played in a prosystem for four years. I like Mora's take. Gotta disagree with that, many spread Qbs have one read and chuck it. It's probably a combination of both.
