purple haze Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Fred Jackson will forever be one of my all-time favorite Bills. A great player, a great team leader, and a great family man. so rare these days among these flash-millionaire athletes. I don't think it's as rare as you believe. You just don't hear about the Fred's because there's no news value in it. There are many more players in pro sports who get in no trouble at all than do.
DC Tom Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 So because Whaley has never been arrested, he's a good person? Has there ever been a bad person who wasn't arrested? Hitler. No, wait...he was arrested. Goebbels.

purple haze Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Let me clarify your confusion - you are a nitwit. Doug Whaley is the perfect role model of a minority guy who has done everything right, and who has earned the trust of Ralph Wilson and the Pegulas. Never been arrested, always been a model citizen. Lynch is a thug, who engaged in a hit and run in Buffalo, arrested in LA on WEAPONS charges, and somehow you are so stupid that you are completely unable to distinguish between the two. So go ahead genius, post that Marshawn poster on your kids bedroom wall, and trash Whaley all day. Does that answer your dumb question? None of us know Whaley or Lynch. Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody makes multiple mistakes in some form or fashion. Lynch has done some unfortunate things, true enough. Doesn't make him the worst person in the world. I haven't heard where he's been in trouble recently. Perhaps he's turned a corner.
DC Tom Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Fred "finally got a firsthand look" at how the football works? Really. I seem to recall before landing a 9 year gig with the Bills he bounced around quite a bit. All over the place actually. Fred you had 9 years as a Bill, and you were a good guy and a nice player but never anything more. You never made a Pro Bowl, despite the fact that's actually fairly easy to do. Not many players on our wall of fame who never even made a pro bowl, but you will be there. What was Whaley to do, play you over Karlos Williams? You would not have been happy as a third stringer (which actually is what you are in Seattle) here. Name me the NFL GM that would choose you over Williams. And spare us the praise of Saint Marshawn. If he was your little brother and shadow here in Buffalo, where were you when he was running down pedestrians in downtown Buffalo and then running away like the little B word he is. Or all the other incidents and trouble he caused here. Or his weapons violation/arrest in Los Angeles. Yes Marshawn is just a wonderful human being, it's Whaley who is the bad guy. Is that what you are trying to sell us Freddie? No reasonable person should buy your BS. "Running down pedestrians." That's awesome.
purple haze Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 LeSean is probably like that but you don't hear about it because he makes people sign a non-disclosure agreement. I don't know. Maybe. I don't know why some expect pro athletes, entertainers, etc. to somehow be different from "normal" people in society. There is a segment of people in life in general who who will get into trouble. That's life. There's many more people who don't. Sports/entertainment is no different; they're just people.
Freddie's Dead Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) Great post Yolo, thanks for this link. Good to hear firsthand from Fred what happened. It's clear dude was willing to do ANYTHING to remain a Buffalo Bill. I wish Whaley had taken him up on it, because Boobie Boom Wood is a porn name, not an NFL starting backfield. Godspeed Fred, and a quick return from the ankle injury. As far as trashing Marshawn, I'm as big a Marshawn hater as anyone. How his ass stayed out of jail and on the field long enough for the 'hawks to win a Super Bowl is a testament to his legal Dream Team. But the young man does seem to have straightened out the legal aspects of his life, even if he's still a dick to the media. I'll err on the side of Fred. If he's OK with Marshawn, I'm OK with Marshawn. Edited October 10, 2015 by Freddie's Dead

When was the last time Fred threw a party and invited the public? I like that he works to bring ladies together for a common goal and such. All FJ money goes into his M&T bank account and only does charities where his picture gets taken. Full disclosure.

hondo in seattle Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Unless Whaley says it would have been financially impossible to resign Marcel if we didn't cut Freddy, I will always disagree with the decision. But, other than missing his family, Fred seems to be doing well in Seattle. I wonder if this is his last year? Would he want to move the family to Seattle next year knowing there are no guarantees? Or would he want to live apart from them another season? Hard choices.

It'd be great seeing Fred get a ring.
dave mcbride Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Honest question: if Jackson Had been cut right after he got hurt in camp -- which is when he says he would have been more ok with it -- wouldn't the Bills have to have negotiated some sort of injury settlement? I'm not entirely sure about that, but I suspect they might have.
Rob's House Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) I love Fred and I love the article. But...I wonder if Fred is going to move on now, or if he is going to keep bringing up the time Whaley "lied." We all know how much criticism McCoy got for talking about Chip in the media when he was upset that he was traded out of the blue. No Fred didn't say that Whaley got rid of "certain types" of players, insulating a bigger issue (though he wasn't the first or last to do so)but the point remains he has purposely discussed Whaley in a negative light multiple times since he left. Once right after it happened when emotions were high I could see... But we are now over a month removed. Just interesting how the two are looked at differently. Probably just reputation. But outside of the small tip he left a waitress once, was McCoy ever looked at negatively in Philly? I don't honestly know. If Whaley did in fact lie to him, why shouldn't he say it? It's one thing to bad mouth the organization, quite another to give a factual account of what happened. Edited October 11, 2015 by Rob's House
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Umm... Fred Jackson is playing today. With a high ankle sprain...
