dpberr Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) If you want an interesting blueprint, watch the first half of the October 8, 2007 game vs. the Cowboys. The Bills rolled out a unique defensive look that worked well against the quick throwing Romo. Edited October 10, 2015 by dpberr
Formerly Allan in MD Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I've been saying this for weeks!!! Even posted this during Pats game!!! Specifically the DEs. Jumping with hands in the throwing lanes will throw off Brady's quick passes to the likes of Edelman and Amendola allowing Marcel and Kyle to get pressure up the middle. Agreed, hands in the throwing lanes can help. Yet, you don't see if that often. Of course if you're rushing the passer, the focus is to go all out to reach him. But if you're not rushing and it's clearly a passing play, get 'em up.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I prefer my plan: baseball bat to the knees. I didn't know you were marred to Tanya
Very wide right Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Sadly it appears that the road to the Superbowl goes right through Foxboro again this year. The Patriots are a damn winning machine.
BringBackFergy Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I said it a couple of weeks ago too. It makes sense. I feel like the Giants of a few years ago used to do this and it worked. Some people may be afraid that it will stop the effectiveness of the pass rush to disengage and put your hands up but we aren't getting to Brady anyway. It's tough to get your hands up in the NFL.
machine gun kelly Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Unfortunately, I see the Cowboys getting slaughtered today. I'm with DC Tom. Baseball bat to the knees. Tonya Harding was onto something.

Dorkington Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 What about keeping a mental clock for the DL to put your hands up? More batted balls? Isn't that how we beat them in 2011? A lot of tipped ints? I forget.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Bills "D" says it's ready for Tom Brady, fully aware the Patriots will not let up Buffalo News reports: '“Rex has something up his sleeve," safety Bacarri Rambo said. "Rex is, in my opinion, the best defensive coach in the league. He’s going to find a way to slow them down. He’s going to bring some of those rabbits out of his hat to slow them down. We just have to know our assignment and do our job. We can’t do too much, we can’t do too less, we have to do our job.'
Beerball Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 You do your best on offense against them & hope you don't make mistakes, but, this game comes down to how the Bills offense performs, especially early.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 It comes down to the D, if and how they slow Brady down.
Beerball Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 It comes down to the D, if and how they slow Brady down. Nope. They will get theirs. Offense is the key. Slow down the offense, get some key stops, but, offense wins the game.
Tenhigh Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Beerball is right, if the O doesn't produce early and often, we are sunk.
MDH Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Nope. They will get theirs. Offense is the key. Slow down the offense, get some key stops, but, offense wins the game. Make sure our offense is on the field at the end of the game going for the game winning score and not theirs.
Dorkington Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Make sure our offense is on the field at the end of the game going for the game winning score and not theirs. I'd rather be in victory formation
Maddog69 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I prefer my plan: baseball bat to the knees. That's called a Gilooly (but its a tire iron, not a bat).
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I would rather see us be unpredictable than aggressive. I know everyone was complaining about the lack of pressure last game. But I don't mind dropping guys and playing lots of cover, so long as we mix things up and disguise things. Also, I bet the pats come out with some wrinkles, like lots of heavy sets and Blount running it down our throats. So, we will have to be on our toes and adjust lots.

Which was the worst part of our last game against the Pats: We drove down the field in about four minutes with a nice mix of throws and runs. Scored and it looked like the day was ours. Then BB adjusted and all hell broke loose. We need to adjust on the fly like he does....Rex will earn his salary in this game (same with Thurm and G-Ro)
Jerry Jabber Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 If Brady does the exact thing as the first matchup where he is throwing the ball within two seconds, then I think it would be better for the Bills D-line to hold their ground, keep Brady in the pocket and get hands/arms in Brady's throwing lanes. The Bills did that when they beat the Pats in 2011 as Brady threw four INT's that game as some of those INT's were caused by deflections.
