4BillsintheBurgh Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 A quick google search shows he's had some success with the pushups http://espn.go.com/newyork/nfl/story/_/id/9714460/rex-ryan-newyork-jets-brings-back-pushups-penalties-provision
blzrul Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 12 penalties * 10 pushups = 170 and "10 or so" could be anything. I think they need more conditioning anyway, the injuries are appalling, so throw in some more stuff while you're at it, Rex.
Beef Jerky Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) @buffalobills Rex: We'll have the team do 10 push-ups or so at practice when a penalty is called to show it impacts everyone. OK, I get the point of showing it impacts everyone. But 10 pushups? Seriously? For pro football players? Surely these guys can toss off 10 pushups like nothing. How about 1 pushup - per penalized yard? Maybe 183 pushups would get their attention. 15 penalties 150 pushups after a day of training... You forget these guys are beat up and injured for most of the week. Edited October 7, 2015 by Beef Jerky
Mr. WEO Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 A quick google search shows he's had some success with the pushups http://espn.go.com/newyork/nfl/story/_/id/9714460/rex-ryan-newyork-jets-brings-back-pushups-penalties-provision Not really. Still always in the bottom half in penalized. His Jets and Ravens (DC) have had 20 penalty games. Penalties in practice (and subsequent pushups) are meaningless. Why not just fine them per penalty in games? Teams can fine players, no?
YoloinOhio Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 There were 8 teams in week 4 that had double digit penalties. 5 of the 8 won and 2 of the 3 that didn't win went to OT and nearly won. There is nothing wrong with addressing it but it is a wee bit overblown by the media. Jets had 14 penalties on Sunday for 163, 28 more yards in penalties than the Bills. Bowles really has that team disciplined, right? Probably Rex's fault!
billsfan_34 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) They better at least be 4 count---my mil peeps will get that. I would rather see suspensions---Hughes comes to mind. Edited October 7, 2015 by billsfan_34

Well we're averaging around ~15 penalties a game, so assuming practice has a similar rate you're looking at 150 a day. Edited October 7, 2015 by Captain Caveman

shane nelson Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Not sure if you have seen this video from the closed night practice. No wonder the players love Rex. This says it all http://kdvr.com/2015/10/07/peewee-football-players-whipnae-nae-forget-they-are-in-middle-of-game/

MDH Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Why not just fine them per penalty in games? Teams can fine players, no? Pretty sure the CBA wouldn't allow this. They can't just fine them for whatever they want.
Best Player Available Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Pretty sure the CBA wouldn't allow this. They can't just fine them for whatever they want. In the past coaches could fine players. But it was chump change. Docking a player a game check that habitually gets personal fouls like Hughes Would work wonders. here's hoping that Kyle got in his face this week.
machine gun kelly Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I say you make the whole team, offense, defense and ST do the 10 push ups. Let the players police each other. That will change fast.
YoloinOhio Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I say you make the whole team, offense, defense and ST do the 10 push ups. Let the players police each other. That will change fast.i thought that is what they are doing
Augie Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I hope they took away dessert too! It sounds silly, but you have to do SOMETHING, and it couldn't hurt. Make them accountable. It's the hot headed personal fouls that bother me the most, but they ALL make you a little crazy!
Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 They should have to sing the shout song while doing push-ups. That worked for me in basic training. Doing push-ups is one thing, but singing while doing it gets you winded pretty fast. Now this I like.
cgang Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I think Rex should be the only one to do the push-ups. CBA problem solved!
Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 There's only so much you can do within the confines of the CBA with stuff like this. Probably even up-downs would be a no-go. Seriously? The CBA covers stuff like this?
3rdand12 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Hughes is gonna be jacked by the bye week. or winded
