Bills Fan in MD Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 When was the last time that a team fired a coach mid-season and then saved their season? Mike Singletary came close in 2008, but even that team only finished 7-9. It's happened before in other sports (I remember when Jack McKeon won a World Series with the Marlins after taking over mid-season), but not in the NFL. If this is the case, it's hard to see this move as anything but laying the groundwork for next season.
NoSaint Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Sources say Dan Cambell hired...is this the same guy who played for the Bills? nope - but really young guy. 39, and was playing up until a few years ago.....
plenzmd1 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 nope - but really young guy. 39, and was playing up until a few years ago..... i have no idea why i thought he played for the Bills...must have been thinking Mark Cambell
buffaloboyinATL Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Glazer tweeted Jim Schwartz was a name he thought they may consider. Could just be speculation on his part though. please, please, please not Schwartz. That would really suck.
Big C Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 No Schwartz please! No No No! Isn't Philbin the one who cut Vontae Davis?? Traded. The one trade involving the Colts where the Colts got the better end of the deal.
Mr. WEO Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 So...the Fins hire Roman this afternoon, right?
YoloinOhio Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) No Schwartz please! No No No! Traded. The one trade involving the Colts where the Colts got the better end of the deal. yep. Even a blind Grigson finds a nut once in awhile. @RapSheet: #Dolphins owner Stephen Ross on firing Joe Philbin http://t.co/V2VWIXtcEq @AlbertBreer: And here's the statement from ex-Dolphins coach Joe Philbin ... http://t.co/FmdldwVqmU @ChrisTrapasso: #Dolphins DC Kevin Coyle fired too, per @RapSheet. (Not surprising) Edited October 5, 2015 by YoloinOhio
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Yeah and look what happened, Singletary did just good enough to keep him for three more years of progressively getting worse. You really limit yourself with mid-season hires, that was why I didn't think it would actually happen. When was the last time that a team fired a coach mid-season and then saved their season? Fixxxer Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Dan Campbell was a HB/TE, played for Dallas and Miami, i have to assume when Parcells was part of their history.
#34fan Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 No Schwartz please! No No No! Traded. The one trade involving the Colts where the Colts got the better end of the deal. Traded! That's right.... Boy, did they ever..

YoloinOhio Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Great leadership from the QB too! @RobertKlemko: I'll take, 'Things You Shouldn't Say as an NFL QB' for 500, Alex. http://t.co/ULA1dFvAw6http://t.co/1rY9de3vwG

Obviously, the Pats are in a league by themselves and will, barring any miraculous circumstance, win the division. If you're the phins, and got beat handily by the other two teams in the division, you may as well forget about this season. Suck for Luck, 2015. Honestly, though, the Bills are not, at least right now, the 2nd best team in the Division, and the AFCE isn't sending 3 teams to the playoffs.
Mr. WEO Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 So the leading internal candidate is a guy who was an intern 5 years ago? Yeah, that should do it. As for Schwartz, I would be fine with him stepping into that mess. Terrible HC. Bring him on Fins!

However, that didn’t prove to be an effective strategy.
