RyanC883 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Who are we going to sign, Scobee? exactly. Anyone who watched the Steelers game Thursday knows theses guys don't grow on trees.
Nihilarian Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 On another note can we make Colton Schmidt president?
MarkAF43 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Cut and replace him with who? Someone provide names of proven kickers looking for work.
PromoTheRobot Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Any kicker off the street would be an upgrade. He is just not dependable. Imo Wanna bet?
Fadingpain Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Remember when we had the thread about why Miami cut him and settled on it being an overreaction to a bad couple weeks? Think we are having one of those moments here? Yes. Keep him, but let's hope he returns to last season's form soon.
smuvtalker Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) I don't think cutting Carpenter is the answer. I agree with some other posters, he is just in a bit of a funk right now, and he has been dealing with an injury. His 51 yarder split the uprights. I think we need to let him work this thing out...I really hope Rex doesn't cut him, it would be a real knee jerk reaction, and in my opinion, looking for a scapegoat(albeit an inappropriate one). Carpenter is NOT the reason we lost this game today. 17 penalties, the refs, missing a tackle that ends up turning into a 50 yard touchdown run, those are much more valid reasons to chalk today's loss to. Bacchus44 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Carpenter had a knee injury this week. Word. While I was upset at his botches, wasn't he listed as questionable earlier this week and held out of practice? Cutting him tomorrow would be the stupidest move ever.
ToGoGo Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 There's something up with him. Even after making the 51 yarder he seemed unsure of himself. He seems prone to the yips like what happened to him in Miami.
Alphadawg7 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 This makes sense how? Ask the Steelers how easy it is to find a reliable kicker on the market right now. I mean this is just absurd. I do agree, he is on the hot seat, but unless you got someone who can be better then cutting him makes you worse. And right now, the open market on good kickers is bare.
Nitro Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Who are you going to sign? Not much out there. Once his injury is healed up, he will be knocking them through the uprights.
PSU1 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Stupid thread, who do you think we would replace him with? Seriously? I'm not happy with that whiff today but for goodness sakes let's use some common sense. Carp won some games for us last year and we're 4 games in this year and we want to talk about cutting him. This team has way bigger issues than the kicking game.
metzelaars_lives Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Any kicker off the street would be an upgrade. He is just not dependable. Imo You're completely shot man.
Chilly Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Have you guys seen the state of kicking across the league? Cutting Carpenter is crazy.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Not sure what's happening with Dan the man but I don't like it. Think it's time to send him packing. I disagree with this 100%. Any kicker off the street would be an upgrade. He is just not dependable. Imo Leroi, I respect your opinion a lot around here but you just went full derp.
Chandler#81 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Any kicker off the street would be an upgrade. He is just not dependable. Imo Neither are your posts or prognostications. Can we cut you? Imo
DriveFor1Outta5 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 In this case he likely cost us a win...that miss caused a chain of events that saw us go for it on 4th and goal instead of kicking another FG to cut it to a one possession game. Game would have been tied at 16 instead of us being down 16-10. I will concede the fact that you may be right, but there are a lot of "what ifs" in play there. I was thinking more along the lines that we played terrible, and Carpenter was one of many players that failed at doing their job today. It's unfair to pin today's loss on Carpenter.
Leroi Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I understand this was an emotional lose, but you guys are way too serious. Why so serious? Imo
Barack Obama Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 On another note can we make Colton Schmidt president? Let me be clear Punting a football is very different from punting responsibility
BuffaloBillsForever Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) I understand this was an emotional lose, but you guys are way too serious. Why so serious? Imo I am a realist as a fan. I don't get too emotional. Dan Carpenter is still an elite kicker in this league. He has gone through small samples of struggles in the past. I am not worried about it. Formerly Allan in MD Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Carpenter was injured during preseason and has obviously not fully recovered. He's quite limited and obviously shaky. If he's not 100% and unable to kick off, we really need another option, at least until he is 100% As for the kick-off specialist, he should only be occupying a roster spot if he can consistently get the ball deep or out of the end zone and possibly be able to back-up the place kicker. This guy does neither. Oh for the good old days when your starting quarterback was also your place kicker (George Blanda) and you starting tight end was your place kicker as well (Lou Groza).
