Blokestradamus Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Dan was actually one of the more vocal opponents to the rule change, mainly on the grounds of safety - http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12920452/extra-point-change-add-collisions-dan-carpenter-buffalo-bills-says Maybe it's all a ploy to make them think that games could be decided on it and they might revert to the old rule? Of course, this is 99.9% sarcastic on my behalf.
LA Grant Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I think Dan will come around. Right now there is literally no better option. Maybe we can draft a kicker next year again.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 @TyDunne Bills sticking w Dan Carpenter. Rex points out that on the extra point the laces weren't out. From @JaySkurski: http://bills.buffalonews.com/2015/12/07/rex-ryan-gives-dan-carpenter-strong-vote-of-confidence/
26CornerBlitz Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Rex on Carpenter & going for two Bills kicker Dan Carpenter missed his fourth FG attempt and his fourth extra point attempt Sunday in the win over Houston, but head coach Rex Ryan is determined to have the veteran specialist kick his way out of the rut he’s in. “I think you look around the league there has been, moving that thing back there is a lot people that miss kicks,” said Ryan of the new distance of 33 yards for extra points. “Their kicker missed a kick.” On Sunday there were nine missed extra points counting Carpenter’s, which has begun to convince some coaches to go for two more often like Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. Ryan said he’s sticking with Carpenter mainly because of his solid track record of kicking well in poor weather conditions, which are on the horizon.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Will be interesting to see what happens in the draft. If the Bill's use a 3rd or 4th rounder and select one of hte top kickers, that would say the writing is one the wall. Other than drafting someone, doubt there are any better options out there.

Can we just re-claim Hopkins back since we drafted him originally? Edited December 8, 2015 by 4merper4mer
CardinalScotts Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 you dont change kickers week 13 unless injured.....who the hell do you think is coming in here making their kicks ? Have a little faith
Saxum Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Can we just re-claim Hopkins back since we drafted him originally? He just missed an easy kick. Are you sure you want to claim him back?
Max997 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) Not sure what's happening with Dan the man but I don't like it. Think it's time to send him packing. Easy to say cut a player but who exactly is better for the Bills right now? If you're gonna say they should cut someone you should at least offer an option of who they should sign Edited December 8, 2015 by Max997

If you're gonna say they should cut someone you should at least offer an option of who they should sign Look at the date of the post. Back then, it would have been easier to do so.
Boolay Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) Easy to say cut a player but who exactly is better for the Bills right now? If you're gonna say they should cut someone you should at least offer an option of who they should sign I missed the memo on fans having to solve a problem they are pointing out. Maybe he has a job and life to live and hasn't compiled a list of available free agent kickers. Isn't that Doug's job? Edited December 8, 2015 by Boolay
ALF Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I still think Dan has not fully recovered from his early injury. Rex didn't help ragging on him . Lots of rehab off season , should be back to normal next season . Just have a back up plan , draft a kicker.
dpberr Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Carpenter is having an off year by his standards. So what. Norwood and Christie had lean years too.
4merper4mer Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 He just missed an easy kick. Are you sure you want to claim him back? Never mind. Carpenter is having an off year by his standards. So what. Norwood and Christie had lean years too. I could buy that if he appeared to be concentrating on football rather than comic relief hair.
DC Greg Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 We won. Carp didn't cost us the game. Let him redeem himself this week.
BuffaloHokie13 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 We won. Carp didn't cost us the game. Let him redeem himself this week. He also hit the FG to make it a 2 score game at the end.
Dorkington Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 @hsimon62 there were 9 missed extra points in week 13. That is 1 more than they had all last season with the short PAT. 57 missed PAT's this season I think this is important to remember. It's not just Dan who's missed a XP or two. I also think we should go for two more often. We have Tyrod, McCoy, Karlos, and Clay, all can get us two yards pretty easily, I'd think.
jester43 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 i know he's had a rough year, but i believe in the guy and i want him back next year. so now.
Boolay Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 i know he's had a rough year, but i believe in the guy and i want him back next year. so now. How can you justify keeping a kicker that requires you to burn an extra roster spot and cap space on a kickoff specialist?
