truth on hold Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Saw "The Martian". Very over rated and forgettable. The studio did a great job creating hype for a relatively low budget, dull, suspenseless, and for the most part poorly acted flick. Nearly left 2/3rds way thru
DC Tom Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Jack Black stars in, "Goosebumps". A teenager teams up with the daughter of young adult horror author R.L. Stine after the writer's imaginary demons are set free on the town of Greendale, Maryland. Also starring Odeya Rush, Halston Sage & Dylan Minnette. The four scariest words in the English language: "Adam Sandler stars in..." But "Jack Black stars in" is a close second.

Well acted, brilliantly shot, a truly entertaining film that's close to the book.

Well acted, brilliantly shot, a truly entertaining film that's close to the book. Agreed. Loved it. It's not a shoot me up with car explosions. It's a movie that takes place in the room in Apollo 13 when the scientists get a box of spare parts and have to figure out how to vent the CO2 or everyone dies. Anyone who likes that scene will love this movie. If you prefer ray guns and aliens, this Martian is not for you. And yes, nice job following the book. My biggest complaint is that they made him a full botanist. The guy was an engineer. That's why he survived. Botany was his backup mission specialty. That's a minor quibble. KD in CA Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Not surprisingly, I found this review to be quite off the mark. The Martian was excellent all around. Well acted, brilliantly shot, a truly entertaining film that's close to the book. Agreed. We saw it on Saturday and thought it was very good. Damon is a douchebag but he's a great actor and nailed the role.
