Another Mass Shooting!, This Time in Oregon

Recommended Posts

I get it... Realistic=Stuff happens. Move-on and be more vigilant.

Well, you can implement the media solution to not give shooters personal publicity. That should cut these things down dramatically.

If a liberal doesn't spend time organizing and writing to media outlets to stop giving these shooters publicity, they don't really care about mass murders. They care about banning guns.

The major media outlets could agree on some ground rules about how to cover these incidents in a few hours. The government wouldn't have to get involved. It would cost nothing to the taxpayer.

Again, mass shootings could be dramatically reduced tomorrow, for free. Focus on that.

This is an easy to implement responsible way to cover tragic events. Unfortunately since out media is no longer objective journalists but increasingly beoming the 4th branch of gvt this will probably necer happen. They have an agenda to push. Forward!

Jeb Bush dismisses massacre with "Stuff happens" comment. Wow! Sounds

Ike his brother on Iraq

He's right. Stuff really does happen. Especially when citizens aren't allowed to defend themselves. You liberals should really look at things in the proper context instead of cherry picking. A pretty quick historical summary of stuff happening when the people are left to defend themselves with shovels n shite.

"1. In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves against their ethnic-cleansing government, were arrested and exterminated.

2. In 1929, the former Soviet Union established gun control as a means of controlling the “more difficult” of their citizens. From 1929 to the death of Stalin, 40 million Soviets met an untimely end at the hand of various governmental agencies as they were arrested and exterminated.

3. After the rise of the Nazi’s, Germany established their version of gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill, and others, who were unable to defend themselves against the “Brown Shirts”, were arrested and exterminated. Interestingly, the Brown Shirts were eventually targeted for extermination themselves following their blind acts of allegiance to Hitler. Any American military and police would be wise to grasp the historical significance of the Brown Shirts’ fate.

4. After Communist China established gun control in 1935, an estimated 50 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves against their fascist leaders, were arrested and exterminated.

5. Closer to home, Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayans, unable to defend themselves against their ruthless dictatorship, were arrested and exterminated.

6. Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves from their dictatorial government, were arrested and exterminated.

genocide-5-150x150.jpg7. Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million of the “educated” people, unable to defend themselves against their fascist government, were arrested and exterminated.

8. In 1994, Rwanda disarmed the Tutsi people and being unable to defend themselves from their totalitarian government, nearly one million were summarily executed.

The total numbers of victims who lost their lives because of gun control is approximately 70 million people in the 20th century. The historical voices from 70 million corpses speak loudly and clearly to those Americans who are advocating for a de facto gun ban. Governments murdered four times as many civilians as were killed in all the international and domestic wars combined. Governments murdered millions more people than were killed by common criminals and it all followed gun control."

You should do a little research and discover how thoroughly wrong that all is.

Get better sources.

The customer is an idiot and in the wrong. Without getting too specific you can legally only fire your gun at someone if you or someone elses life is in immediate danger. You cant shoot at someone fleeing over stolen property. That guy is a jackass and will be in jail with the original criminals.

Maybe the best option is just to make peace with the fact in a free society with gun rights, mass shootings will just be collateral damage. We can fortify schools, movie theatres, but then it will be a crowded public pool, or mall, or bus stop. Fortify those, it will be a restaurant.

We're not going to anything to reduce access to guns, not take the ones people already own. We're not going to screen everybody for mental illness, violate personal health privacy or keep databases of people with mental illness, and even if we could what criteria identifies mass shooters, and if people meet that criteria are we going to suspend their freedom?? Of course not.

So what does that leave? To me, "stuff" does happen, it sucks, but it does

Until Sandy Hook, the worst mass shooting in the US was in a restaurant called "Luby's." Before that, it was a McDonalds in San Ysidro. Then there's the Brown's Chicken Massacre. And plenty of workplace violence - Navy Yard, two separate incidents at Ft. Hood. And, of course, workplace rage is often referred to as "going postal" because mass shootings were so damned common in post offices for a while.

It's never been just schools and theaters.

This whole debate is a waste of time, imho.

I saw a great post on Twitter earlier:

A white guy kills black Christians and all white people need to apologize.

A black guy kills white Christians and all gun owners need to apologize.

The question to ask is who benefits from deliberately manipulating the narrative?

Continue the divide and conquer mentality.

push anti gun agenda

push the race baiters

Etc

Objective journalism is long dead in this country

There was also the VA Tech shooting before Sandy Hook.

Mass shootings are on a hockey stick in the last 20 years, and in particular the last 8. Humans are ever lemmings and sadly, it's not only psychos doing these things anymore.

- Easy gun access

- Loneliness made possible through web/TV/ecommerce and many other tech advances that allow people to drop out of society and still "survive"

- Mass shooting "how-to models" (killers have created a script for these events)

- Media/game violence desensitization

I haven't seen any sane person offer a solution. Maybe it's just as simple (or hard) as reaching out to people one at a time...not ostracizing and not letting people you know turtle up. People who have friends/support generally don't do this stuff.

Someone suggested that maybe gun violence is just going to happen because we are an armed country. That may be true but I hope we can do better.

I dont know if I buy the desensitization part. Look back through history there were times when it was common for many people to regularly hunt and shoot as part of tbeir culture. Years ago when my dad was in school he told me stories that no one would have looked twice if you had your shotgun in your pickup truck parked in thr school parking lot while you were in class.

Its a different culture today. Men used to be expected to conduct themselves as gentlemen. Now they are being feminized, portrayed as bumbling idiots and blamed for everything wrong in the country. Thuglife gang culture and self proclaimed victim angry social recluses have become more common. I blame a lot of the victim mentality for people feeling sorry for themselves and blaming others for their short comings and refusng to accept personal responsibility. But the government continues to make it easier and socially acceptable to just expect handouts and blame others when things go wrong. Totally another topic but I am far from being a perfect christian but I believe there is a strong connection that as people turn away from church and church membership falls and the country is more secular extreme acts of violence increase just out of lack of morals and fear of god.
