When my sister was a public defender, she was assigned to a repeat-offender jailhouse-lawyer type who wanted to challenge his charge (assault and battery, I think) on the grounds of misidentification. To which my sister said "You will lose. You have a tattoo...of a gun...on you face." He insisted. And lost. Crime may not pay, but stupid pays far less.
