and how do YOU know his recent difficulties are not truly the result of his bad hamstring as opposed to a supposed decline causing him to be unable to "make plays he no longer can" ?

In case you missed it:

1) He ran 312 times in 2014 for the league average ypc

2) He had the lowest yards per touch in the NFL among players with 250 or more touches

He isn't the same player he was in 2013 and earlier.

The feeling of declined explosiveness is the sign he needs to heed....this is who he is now and he needs to accept it and adapt his game.

There are plays to be made on the inside if he follows his blocks and the shortest distance to the goal line is straight ahead.

@mikerodak: Sammy Watkins tells me he'll test his calf injury tomorrow and the Bills will make a decision from there. But nothing set right now on his status vs. Titans.

Translation: Rodak asked Sammy a question and Sammy said "get away from me, punk."

Isn't there a rule against regurgitating his crap?

I sure hope he doesn't hurt himself testing his calf, or walking in from his car, or putting mayonnaise on a sandwich

Of all the things to criticize Watkins for, being soft just isn't one of them.

Hope it's a hamsandwhich, and he better use mustard rather than mayonnaise. He's not working out with his calf injury and we don't need a pudgy Watkins returning.

Actually, I think it's the only real thing to criticize him on. I mean, what else is wrong with him besides he's spent basically his entire tenure with the Bills injured?

He has started 19 out of the 20 games played in his career. Soft players with injuries simply don't do that. He is as tough as they come. All heart. You have to question something other than his toughness. Not a soft bone in his body.

Well, we used 35 1st round picks on him.

Sigh...no, no we didn't. It was 7, and I've proven it before:

Take each letter of Sammy's first name, and match it with its corresponding letter of the alphabet (1 is A, 2 is B, etc.).

S A M M Y = 19+1+13+13+25 = 71, or 7 1's.

So tired of explaining this...

We heard in the off season that he played hurt all year. Ribs, was it? Then this training camp, he was playing on a hurt something or other, now he's actually out. The point is we haven't seen the 'real' Sammy Watkins for any stretch yet, or have we?

edit: and, yes, when you spend 47 years of first round draft picks plus a year's supply of Freddie's donuts to Cleveland for the pick, you would like to see the guy play at full strength every now and again

No doubt we all want to see him healthy.

Lament the cost of acquiring him all you want, but that needs to be directed towards Whaley and others, not Watkins.

Your assertion was that SW is a soft player. That simply is not true by any definition of the term.

I don't follow much College football. But I was curious if Sammy had these lingering injury issues during his college career. Does anybody know?

He did not.
