GunnerBill Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 dawan Landry anyone?? That would make sense if Williams is gonna miss any major time.
NoSaint Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Guessing next step is to sign Matt Simms off Falcons PS I'd be surprised if we guarantee sims a spot on the 53 by stealing him
26CornerBlitz Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 Just got the official announcement via the Bills app
YoloinOhio Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 That would make sense if Williams is gonna miss any major time. or if they give Duke the ol inactive list
GG Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I'd be surprised if we guarantee sims a spot on the 53 by stealing him Would they roll the dice with only 2 active QBs?
NoSaint Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 dawan Landry anyone?? Would make a lot of sense. Could play Sunday if needed and if we get healthy he could likely be cut too.
Leroi Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I like the deal. Do they bring in a 3rd Quarterback now or use the roster spot somewhere else? They have to bring in a capable backup. Any vets out there? Who's available? TBow? Imo
Dorkington Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 They have to bring in a capable backup. Any vets out there? Who's available? TBow? Imo You are incredibly predictable.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 And never cut ej- rough hit for you, roi oopsy
goldenboy81 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Cool, the week has gotten better already
NoSaint Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Would they roll the dice with only 2 active QBs? I'm pretty firmly on record that we may as well sign someone off the heap like sims only if required by injury. To do it today poses little advantage. Put tanney on the ps, and Simms is an option later still too.
nucci Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 My initial reaction is we didn't get enough in return for this trade. Cassel had more value to us as a backup QB this year than whoever the 2017 6th or 7th rounder will be; a pick that usually (not always) doesn't even end up making the team. I would've preferred a player-for-player here and receive depth OL (La'el Collins???). Considering the Cowboys are desperate, I would've thought we had more leverage here. Obviously I am just speculating, I'm sure you'll tell me why this was impossible. Because if the Bills asked for any player of value I'm guessing the Cowboys would have looked elswhere for a backup
BringBackOrton Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 not sure if you saw this, that doesn't scream 'top' to me @ESPNStatsInfo: Cowboys acquire Matt Cassel. His 34.6 Total QBR since '12 is 4th-lowest (min. 500 action plays). Lowest QBR since '12...Brandon Weeden, 26.1 I'd love to see how those numbers compare to other backup QBs in the league. Plus- there is no statistic on experience.
Mark Vader Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Shrewd if unexciting. I'm excited. We no longer have "Meh". And we now have 8 picks in the 2017 Draft.
nucci Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Glad Whaley did this. Takes our mind off the New England game.... it does?
DallasBillsFan1 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Buffalo received Dallas' 5th round selection in 2017 for the trade ... Dallas got Cassell and Buffalo's 7th rounder in 2017.
Coach Tuesday Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I'm pretty firmly on record that we may as well sign someone off the heap like sims only if required by injury. To do it today poses little advantage. Put tanney on the ps, and Simms is an option later still too. The advantages are they learn the offense and serve as an additional practice arm. But yeah, if you get to where you need to actually use them, you're basically screwed anyway by that point...
LabattBlue Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Pretty embarrassing when John Murphy who is an employee of the bills has to report details of the trade via a forth worth newspaper reporter.

Could be risky.
