bills_fan Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Does anyone know anyone who works there? I just ordered my new 05 Wrangler and was hoping to give them a call to see if I may be able to expedite the order (the dealer said CHrysler wouldn't begin building it till March 1). Reason is I have a road trip planned the weekend of March 17-19 and would love to be able to take it. Thanks a lot.

Am I the only one who enjoyed watching the guys at OCC blow up a high performance motor on a dyno because of low oil flow and the fact it wasn't properly broken in?

The complexity of contemporary automobile production, scheduling, blocking, just-in-time parts supply, inventory management, shipping considerations etc. deny that. It wasn't done in the past, either.

One only has to watch "Biker Build Off" to know there are MANY more interesting builders out there than Paulie. That new shop is freaking insane. I can't believe there are people out there willing to drop $60K (or significantly more) for a motorcycle. I have to say I enjoyed the redneckness of driving the Ford Explorer through the office.

I saw Billy Lane fabricate two fenders and an incredibly symmetrical gas tank by bending most of the sheet metal around a length of pipe and table edges with his hands. He places them on the bike for fitting, takes a quick look, makes a few more bends, welds it all together and he's done with that part of the build. I've never seen Paulie do that. However, it sounds like they've got some machines in the new shop that will let them build more parts in-house. Paul Sr. obviously doesn't like the fact that so much work is being contracted and he's pushing the guys to get more done on their own. Hiring Rick was also a step in the right direction.
