9-22: BILLS GM DOUG WHALEY ON WGR (19:50)

Buffalo Bills GM Doug Whaley on WGR NOW

Whaley: "We did not play disciplined, had too many turnovers and mistakes, but the thing you take out of it is that we fought back"

Whaley: "We don't look at it as a setback. We look at it as a measuring stick"

Whaley on Tyrod Taylor: "Good: He competed until the end. Bad: He has to be more patient in the pocket"

Whaley on Taylor: "He's an extremely smart guy. He's a hard worker and he wants to be great."

Haha. Pagano used that last night too.... the whole league has come over all Dick Jauron.

Oy vey...when I first read that I thought "over" and "all" were reversed.

Some of this is good news in that avoiding penalties and having more patience in the pocket are correctable through coaching and self discipline. Whether these are enough to get over the "Brady effect *" is a very different issue.

It's not as hard if you don't play the Patriots twice a year. Easy not to like them, but they are a great team with great coaches.

Was listening to ESPNLA on the ride home last night and Max Kellerman & Marcellus Wiley host and were talking about us & the game.

They called the game a measuring stick for us and said we were most likely too emotionally invested in the hype and once the Pats* hit back, we weren't prepared to deal with it. They liked how we ended up fighting back and like the talent of the team. They actually both said that if we learn from this and if Tyrod develops a little bit ore, we might be a very scary team and could win the Superbowl this yer and the next couple. The big theme was how do we learn from this. They said if we win the super bowl this game would be that turning point game for us this season. They really think we have the talent and that Tyrod may be the real deal...
