John...the other 21 starters on the Giants can't hold a candle to the Bills starters.  In addition, our special teams are head and shoulders above the Giants.  Manning didn't have a chance to succeed in 2004 with that team.

What was the Ravens excuse then?

KD, you may very well be correct and I really hope you are.  But after 5 straight non-playoff seasons, I'm personally so friggin sick of rebuilding.  I really don't want to take a step back, even if may be for the greater long-term good.  I know that is short-sighted of me, but I'm sick of watching crappy football.  Sick of waiting till next year.  Outside of the first 8 games in 02, the first 2 games in 03, and 6 out the last 7 games in 04, our team has been sh-------.  They are simply one big tease.

Now I know that the O will be dumbed down for JP, to begin with, and I truly hope he avoids the ridiculous stuipd mistakes that rookies make.  I know, at first, I will be holding my breath every time he drops back to pass (not too different from DB).  I just hope this works because I am so sick of watching bull sh--.

I couldn't agree more about being sick of rebuilding. If I thought Drew could lead this team to the playoffs and have a fighting chance at a SB, I wouldn't even consider putting JP on the field. But I just don't see Drew taking that step. Look at how well the D and ST played this year....Willis was great....Evans emerged....the Bills had a soft schedule....and they STILL couldn't reach the playoffs. The AFC is going to be just as tough next year and the Bills face a more difficult schudule. Drew isn't getting any better, just older and more beat up. IMO, we have to take a shot with someone else, be it JP or a free agent.

People, people, Hello?

NE got rid of DB AFTER they had SUCCESS with TB and he PROVED himself.

Big difference Buffalo.

In our city wide quest to be like other more successful areas of the country, we look to emulate other's success.  Somehow we always screw up the formula.

Stop being the little brother Buffalo.

Again, TD if you are listening, BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL.

If JP is the man and you have confidence in him starting, pursue it.  Don't try to simply do what others have done successfully.

There is no get successful quick scheme.

It's not: "Look what Pitt did with Big Ben."

It's not: "Look what NYG did with Eli."

And it is certainly not: "Look with what NE did in 2001."

If we follow those statements, we are setting ourselves up for failure.  Failure that will become part of a long line of Buffalo disasters.  I don't even want to begin to list them, so don't ask! ;)

I am pro-BUFFALO first!

Thamus....

I dont know if it is so much mimicing as it is that they have just seen how far they are going to get with the status quo......

Bledsoe....with improved blocking....a solid running game....a number 3 defense...a top special teams.....could not get it done....

I think it just might be that simple

Exactly. It's obvious Drew couldn't get the job done,

cut your losses and move on.

IF JP proves that he can't get the job done,

cut your losses again and move on.

What's the point of keeping a proven failure?

TD has already shown that he won't keep a overpaid dud when he let Ruben go last year... this year, it's Drew's turn to leave.

You make very good points. I just wonder how much of that was starting 0-4, with new coaches, new system etc., and how much of that could have been alleviated with year-to-year consistency? I guess we'll never know.

The one thing that will piss me right off tho, is if people expect JP to play like a 5 year vet. Its gonna take JP 2-3 years to really learn everything and have the experience to truly be a great QB. Its not gonna happen in Year 1 or maybe not in Year 2. It didn't happen for Kelly in 1986 and only at the end of 87 did it all really begin to click and this was a guy who had played a couple of years in the USFL and was one of the all time greats.

If we're really gonna do this, we had better use the xtra cash to upgrade the line.  Resign Jonas, sign a top-notch left guard and lets go.  JP's gonna need all the help he can get here.  Also, we're gonna be facing a ton of 8 man fronts , at least, in the beggining, so JP had better be able to throw the deep ball.

Finally, resigning Phat Pat is a huge priority.  The D can't slip at all.  We have to be perfect in every area.

That is my feeling about it as well.....

I think we need to resign Jonas....get the best Left Guard possible....and also sign a good safety outlet Tight End and give JPL a big target for when he is in trouble......

I think pretty much ALL of our draft and cash should go towards offense this year

Just out of curiosity...does anyone know what our strength of schedule was for '04?

Looking at '05, I think our schedule is going to be a heck of a lot harder. If JP gets it done against tough opponents, I'll be all the more impressed.
